Salmon Run have released their chorally accordant country folk single, ‘She’s Alright’

With their latest single, ‘She’s Alright’, Appleton, WI-residing duo Salmon Run played with roots of country-folk while giving the production a chorally enticing contemporary feel.

The lyrics are sentimental and heartfelt enough for you to become personally enamoured with the object of affection which the accordant single gently introduces, reminding you well and truly that beauty is in the eye of the beholder and that, for the most part, thankfully, it lies in idiosyncrasies.

It’s a stunning single to hand over your emotions and rhythmic pulses to. Any fans of contemporary folk acts such as Bonny Light Horseman will appreciate this quiescent journey of romantic adoration.

The journey of love: Los Angeles, California based singer-songwriter Joe Romersa guides us all on ‘Where We Go From Here’

The legendary LA drummer, singer- songwriter, producer, voice actor and composer extraordinaire Joe Romersa is back with a modern story of the hearts fulfillment, on his latest single called ‘Where We Go From Here’.

This is a man whose work was featured in the 1992 Grammy award-winning ‘The Missing Years‘ album by the late great country-folk singer-songwriter John Prine, and his career has been one that exemplifies the rugged journey of a true musician that never gave up. There have been lots of ups and a few downs, good gigs and bad gigs but he is a person who has never given up. His passion for his art form and learning new skills is obvious.

There is so much to appreciate about this terrific track and the start tells us everything we need to know straight away like a bullet pass for a touchdown. The years of experience and care to play the guitar at a level that most of us only dream of is tremendous. There is a touch of blues, country and rock here and you feel all giddy waiting for his vocals to illuminate through into your headphones.

His gritty voice that is full of incredible stories of life and travel is opened up to us like a creaking door. This is the story of being with that special person in your life as you reminisce about being so happy- they fall asleep in your arms- and you can’t believe this is real. You feel like you two can do anything you want together and nothing has ever felt so right before. After a long search, they found you and you click like a light switch and everything is shining bright with your world again.

Love is on his mind and why not. This is that kind of feeling that you didn’t know really existed for you but has come into your life to make your smile beam wide as can be. ‘Where We Go From Here’ by the renowned and respected Joe Romersa is a guiding light of hope, in an often dark and morbid world. Knowing where to go next is the journey now but it is a question he can share with his partner, and that is all that matters.

Roots of Folk and Country bloom in Pablo Leira Filgueira’s single “Honey, You’re Gonna Lose”

There are some hints of Jack Johnson within the smooth lofty vocal notes, but in the instrumentals, the 21-year-old delivers nothing but authentic ingenuity.

Garrett Clark Bell – Rolling On: Alt Folk for the Outliers

On the heels of a successful debut single, Alabama-born artist and ex-vet Garrett Clark Bell has released their mellifluously hypnotic sophomore single “Rolling On”.

Any fans of War on Drugs and American Football will no doubt appreciate his modernistic take on Country which comes with a blissfully winding infusion of Alt Folk. If you pull your attention away from the consciousness-consuming accordance of the inventively effect-laden instrumentals, anyone who finds resonance in Bob Dylan’s lyrics will find plenty of relatable sentiments in Rolling On. It speaks to the outliers of society, the ones that navigate through the alienation looking for direction. It’s a powerful affirmation of the fact that even if you feel alone, you’re not alone in that feeling.

Izzie Derry – Lost at Sea EP: A Restraintless Release of Organic Aural Folk Endearment

While Izzie Derry’s style doesn’t offer the smoothest melodies and most polished soundscapes, what they do offer is unrestrained emotion, energy, and expression.

The up and coming artist’s latest EP “Lost at Sea” contains 5 unapologetically visceral singles which don’t skirt around issues of superficiality. Instead, the sentiment behind each track runs as strongly as the anthemics which feed through the anything but typical progressions which can only loosely be defined as Folk. There are also plenty of elements of Funk, Rock, Blues, and Country to allow audiophiles of all persuasions to find accessibility within the tracks.

I have a feeling that any fans of Julia Holter, Sharon Van Etten, and Courtney Barnett will find plenty of reasons to admire the Coventry, UK-based artists distinctive expression.

Oh Darlin’ is just one of the meanderingly melodic single’s from Desiree Cannon’s latest album “Beech Sleeper”. The first thing that hits you about the single is the timeless style of the orchestration of the Oakland, California-based artist. The second is her unflinchingly arresting vocal style in which she recreates the same alluring harmony we enjoyed from the pioneers of Americana and Country Folk. If you could imagine what Angel Olson would sound like with an organ thrown into the mix you’d get a good idea of Desiree Cannon’s folkishly cathartic style. Whilst lyrically, you’re in for a narrative treat which captivates you from the first verse.

Ted Hajnasiewicz Releases Heartfelt And Gentle Song, “This Town Is Not For Me”

You know a song is good when with the first few guitar strums you can instantly hear how heartfelt the performance is. Ted Hajnasiewicz’s “This Town Is Not For Me” perfectly exemplifies this, and when the vocal comes in, even though the lyrics are somewhat bittersweet, you can immediately feel a truly heartwarming sensation that lingers throughout the whole song. With such an emotional vocal and guitar performance it is hard not to see how dedicated Ted is towards his music and the messages he wants to convey.

With a perfect balance of Country music elements and Folk, this song is particularly image evoking, especially with the word choices in the lyrics. Megan Louise – Train Song: Alchemically Authentic Country Folk

Great Country Folk Pop artists have an alchemic ability to not only treat you to a resonant passion-driven track but also to provide an instant feeling of warmth through their soundscapes, and well, Megan Louise is on fire.

The up and coming artist has recently released her latest single Train Song which is the title track from her latest 2018 EP. Within the lyrics you can find plenty of poignant imagery which will lead you through a narrative of iridescently sweet Country Blues. Whilst the instrumentals provide a seamlessly rhythmic progression each acoustic note is as light as air. Train Song is almost an archaic composition through its timeless capacity to weave sun-soaked nostalgia that will definitely take you somewhere. There certainly aren’t many artists around to date with the same unadulterated style as Megan Louise, she kept raw charismatic nature even under a polished production of the track.

The Great Magnet – Small Town Tuesday: Country Folk With a Contemporary Kick

Small Town Tuesday is the Great Magnet’s first debut single, yet their sound contains the synergy of a band decades older, their debut was released early February 2018, since then they haven’t hung around they’ve released another 3 sensational tracks. But there is something beguilingly fascinating about the bands first release. Perhaps it’s the perfectly angular jangle of the Alternative Rock Folk guitar, or maybe the contemporary Country Pop vocals which resonates so succinctly over the high vibe rhythmic instrumentals.

The lyrics to Small Town Tuesday is sure to resonate with anyone who has felt the bitter grips of mid-week monotony when you just can’t shake the anticipation for the weekend. After listening to the trio’s latest hit ‘Pine Box’ It’s clear that they’ve sticking by the sound that saw them into their inception. I can’t wait to hear a full album from this contemporarily spectacular Folk outfit.
