Award-winning composer Diesel Keys has released his latest single, ‘What I’m After’, featuring Josie Soden.

What I'm After by Diesel Keys

Award-winning Yorkshire-based songwriter and composer Diesel Keys is set to scoop up more accolades after releasing his latest jazzy piano pop single, ‘What I’m After’, featuring vocals from Josie Soden.

There’s a grandiose air to the ballad that unravels with intensity while avoiding falling into the realms of theatrical novelty. Josie Soden’s sensual and soulful vocals were the perfect choice to compliment the neo-classic keys that glide through crescendos and sparsely intimate progressions. With the infusion of the horn section, you’ll get to swim amongst the tonal warmth that only Jazz can offer.

It’s a stunning release that sets plenty of anticipation for Diesel Key’s future endeavours and releases.

What I’m After is available to stream and purchase via Bandcamp.

Benjamin Witt has made his neo-classic debut with their album ‘Coming Out of It’

North Carolina-based artist, composer and producer, Benjamin Witt has made their debut with their ambient neo-classic album ‘Coming Out of It’. Any fans of Nils Frahm’s tender melodic touch will want to spend time with this remarkably evocative album which could serve as the OST to Hollywood’s next blockbuster.

The best exhibition of Benjamin Witt’s astuteness when it comes to capturing emotion on piano keys is ‘Running Through It’, a soundscape that quiescently captures a break free from stagnation with tentative steps that guide you towards living instead of existing at the mercy of the universe.

Running Through It is now available to stream via Spotify.

Anna Smith & Cédric Joel Ziegler catch the sands of ‘Time’ in their sem-orchestral pop ballad

Swiss pop singer Anna Smith caught the slipping sands of ‘Time’ with her semi-orchestral pop ballad, created in collaboration with film composer Cédric Joel Ziegler.

With crescendos powerful enough to bring you closer to God paired with Anna Smith’s vocals which simultaneously exude tenderness and strength as they bring an evocative charge to the lyrics which compel you to do the best with the time you have, it’s hard not to feel things fall into perspective as you drink in the celestial air.

We can only hope that there will be more collaborative work from Anna Smith & Cédric Joel Ziegler soon. Evidently, the Zurich University of the Arts, where the two artists met is doing something right. They could boost enrolment on the strength of this phenomenal release alone.

Michael Livschitz mellifluously hammers home the tragedy of silent suffering with ‘When Broken Hearts Are Silent’

Between the title and the stabbing intensity of the piano progressions which mellifluously hammer home the tragedy in silent suffering, you can’t help but engage with the evocative potential within Munich’s Michael Livschitz’s latest score ‘When Broken Hearts Are Silent’.

Of all the things that have been lost and have been changed since the pandemic started, I consistently find myself mourning the fact we seem to be slipping into hesitancy to speak, hesitancy to be loud, artful and incredible, hesitancy to be who we were before in the wake of catastrophe and ennui.

When Broken Hearts Are Silent is not a sombre composition, by any means. It is explorative and poignantly reflective through the way it tugs on tender heartstrings, allowing the keys to say what words won’t let us express.

Any fans of Hans Zimmer, John Williams and Ennio Morricone will undoubtedly want to get acquainted with the cinematic presence which resides in Michael Livschitz’s sound.

When Broken Hearts Are Silent is now available to stream via Spotify.

From drive to: Mulholland Jive has the ride of a lifetime on debut ‘Adrenaline Junkie’

With a cleverly worded name derived from the rather strangely fascinating mystery movie Mulholland Drive and his own surname, Mulholland Jive leads us eagerly to the top cliff of ultimate excitement on ‘Adrenaline Junkie‘.

Mulholland Jive, is the thrilling debut indie instrumental funk-rock project from Ben Mulholland, who is a Irish-born teacher, multi-instrumentalist artist and composer, based in Cambridgeshire in England. He has skillfully threaded together a band of keen artists to record remotely with him and his production team. They have passionately pushed this wonderful music together sprightly, that was sweetly inspired by Ben’s students at school, by showing their genuine love for his catchy creations.

These fast-paced dynamic sound feet-movers, are a splendid joy to hear, as you feel like the battered soul is being healed throughout and the skill-level is a marvelous assortment of wonder, as you lock into for the ride and don’t ever let go of the groovy feeling inside your bones.

Adrenaline Junkie‘ from Irish artist Ben Mulholland, is that deliciously tasty and funky fresh organically created song that captures your imagination, has you swinging your body around like a piece of rope and has your body grooving along to forget all worries, for a few minutes at least.

John McCrea sets a post-classical score with ‘Mantra Mantra’

Dublin-based composer and electronica artist, John McCrea, paints with textures of post-classical, Europop and ambient minimalism, yet his un-constrainable sonic prowess becomes more than just sound through the imagery it inspires and the emotion it evokes. The perfect introduction to their cinematic style is the title single to their latest solo album, ‘Mantra Mantra’.

Mantra Mantra is a progressively sensual whirlwind of intensity which permits flurried piano notes to capture urgency while the low reverberant hum of the bassline is a grounding layer of realism which reflects the dread which is very much a part of our mortal coil.

It’s so much more than your average vibe out playlist essential, crank up the volume and you’ll enter a new world constructed by the enigmatic artist who has made a name for himself writing for theatre and dance. His talent is just as mesmerising as a standalone soundscape, there are a plethora of layers to unpack, any attempt to dissect the soundscape feels like butchery.

Mantra Mantra is available to stream via SoundCloud.
