Scott Rocco – Ignited: Perpetually Timeless Indie Rock

Tracks such as “Ignited” by NYC-based Rock artist Scott Rocco will perpetually remain timeless. With melodies which seep just as much pure unadulterated soul as the resounding vocals, you’d have to be fairly dead inside not to get caught up in the tides of euphoria in Ignited.

Even though the vocals were transfixing, nothing left me quite as enamoured as hearing a guitarist with a nuanced style which sits in between that of James Dean Bradfield and Johnny Marr. In a feat of aural alchemy, Scott Rocco combined Marr’s jangly optimistic notes and the deep, tension-building licks which you’ll hear from James Dean Bradfield.

When you hit play, every single one of your rhythmic pulses will be in the command of this incredibly talented artist.

Melaku – Dreamin’: Sun-Soaked Indie Psych Pop

Santa Cruz-based up and coming singer-songwriter Melaku definitely didn’t fail to instil the California sun into their captivatingly ethereal Indie Pop single “Dreamin’”.

There’s a slight hint of Beatles-style Psych Pop offered by the warm tonality of the almost choral instrumental arrangement. Yet Melaku’s single unravelled as a pioneeringly distinctive soundscape born through the utilisation of everything from Soul to Classic Rock to Indie Pop.

Expect soaring instrumental melodies, equally as arrestive vocals and lyrics which leave little to the imagination through the pure candid openness. Tracks such as Dreamin’ are timeless, and we’ll always be happy to hear such expressively soulful soundscapes. It hits you with raw emotion without triggering the ‘I’m listening to a ballad’ guilt’.

Jonathon releases their latest cinematically stunning Rock single “Lost Without You”

Up and coming Rock artist Jonathon has recently released their melodiously mesmerising latest single “Lost Without You”, quite frankly, it’s stunning, and it definitely deserves a spot on your radar.

While there may not be many contemporary Rock tracks on the airwaves which have the ability to leave a lump in your throat, Lost Without You comes with an arsenal of pensive aural elements which are sure to leave you a little emotionally tender.

The orchestral instrumentals which weave in and out of the soundscape add emotive insult to injury whilst also giving Lost Without You a truly cinematic feel.

But in true Rock style, there’s also plenty of soaring relentless riffs and a fair enough amount of energy which lingers in the deftly orchestrated build-ups. There is very little chance of me not coming back to Lost Without You for a repeat of the catharsis.

Vincenzo Grieco – Misleading Lights of Town: Classic Rock Just Got a Lot More Contemporary

“Misleading Lights of Town” is the latest single from Vincenzo Grieco; the up and coming Rome-based artist ensuring that Classic Rock still has a place on contemporary soundwaves.

With a voice as magnetically gruff as Buckcherry’s and guitar riffs which could very well make him your new guitar hero, Misleading Lights of Town should fit right in on your playlists amongst the likes of Van Halen, Chris Cornell, and Aerosmith. Yet, Vincenzo Grieco does plenty more than just assimilate former artists with his tracks. Although his sound remains incredibly accessible to Rock fans who have a penchant for the archetypal, you can expect to hear a faint hint of Jazz Fusion for an extra melodiously polished and refreshing effect.

Jericho Hill – Take Notice: Classical Rock-Inclined, Contemporarily Compelling Rock

Take Notice is one of the latest singles from the up and coming roots-deep Rock powerhouse Jericho Hill’s 2018 album ‘the Suicide Jack’.

Their debut album was released on September 7th and is pretty much guaranteed to appeal to anyone who appreciates a contemporary twist on Classic Rock. With vocals that are simultaneously reminiscent to both Disturbed and Iron Maiden’s, Take Notice is a track which will instantly feel like home to any self-respecting Rock fan. Whilst Jericho Hill may not stand out in terms of originality with Take Notice, they’ve certainly caught our attention with their high-octane energy and complete lack of restraint when it comes to pouring all the angst they have into the track.

EdenTrain – Pushin’: A Delicately Progressive Take on Classic Rock

With their latest single Pushin’ have created one of the most cathartically ambient offerings of Soft Americana I’ve ever heard. There’s a soft delicacy to their soundscapes as they allow the organ to bleed over the gentle chord progressions of the Bluegrass guitar, and then there’s the vocals which sporadically weave through the track, offering a poised and poignant narration of pure soul. The vocals get mixed up along the way with spoken word versing to allow the sentiment behind Pushin’ to really resonate. With their extended track Pushin’ the Los Angeles based collective squeezed in plenty of melodically intricate instrumental breakdowns that any self-respecting audiophile wouldn’t fail to recognise as concordantly blissful.

Their individualistic Funk-riddled approach to Classic Rock is like nothing you’ve ever heard before, whilst EdenTrain may have faint similarities to bands such as the Doors their prodigally conceptual approach to instrumental layering isn’t something that you’ll hear every day.

The Thrill – Come With Me: Rhythmically Raucous Classic Rock

Come With me is the latest track from the Alt Rock powerhouse of talent The Thrill.

Sitting somewhere between classic rock and 80’s hair metal, The Thrill create a raucous smorgasbord of synergetic riffs, angsty melodies, and lyrics that you could get lost in. They’re romantic… in a Rock & Roll kind of way. Whilst I can’t say Come With Me is the most pioneering track that I’ve heard in 2018, the familiarity of the sound was akin to putting on a comfortable pair of slippers, a pair of slippers that are alive with rhythmic energy.

Ian Mccotter – Under the Sun: Nostalgically Euphoric Classic Rock

There’s a reason why the classic Rock styling never gets old, the timeless discords create an overwhelming sensation of nostalgic euphoria. It takes you back to a simpler time when sounds were analog and well…decent. Ian Mccotter’s soulful approach to his 2018 release of Under the Sun is the perfect example with his guitar-driven sound. Ian Mccotters vocal style would be reminiscent of the results of splicing Gary Barlow and Dave Grohl, whilst that seems like a strange compliment to give a Rock musician, the Glaswegian artist has a polished, sophisticated style, that wouldn’t be out of place in a Pop track, whilst having that essential subtle raucous edge.  Whilst I’m normally inclined to go out in search of pioneering sounds Ian Mccotter creates such anachronistic sounds that ooze pure soul and passion through evocatively deep lyricism his tracks are a pleasure to get lost in.

Archaic Knowledge – Gate Keeper: A Composition of Contemporary Classic Rock

Listening to Archaic Knowledge’s debut track from their latest album will be like a breath of fresh air for Thrash Rock & Hard Rock fans alike. Instrumentally, their Groove Rock sound is relentless, fuelled with the pretty filthy guitar riffs that reverberate acting as the life line for this track.

The vocals are pretty minimal and sporadic which is perfect if you just want to soak up the raucous vibes from the instrumentals. The vocalists iconic Grunge style offerings to the track round it off perfectly, with a slight reminiscence to the iconic sound of Alice in Chains, Soundgarden and contemporary grungers Gnostalgic, just with a little added groove to their sound. The Tennessee based Classic Rock aficionado’s play with unrivalled synergy that flows through each one of their tracks which will no doubt see them played on Kerrang! Radio in no time!
