No Gods No Masters: RIP Lux reminisces about that war-starting day in 1914 with ‘Shadows in Vienna’

Taken off his excellently spooky new nine-track debut album released on the 28th June 2021 named ‘Hauntology‘, RIP Lux breezes in quietly with so much intriguing guile on his top single called ‘Shadows in Vienna‘.

RIP Lux is an mysteriously exciting Eastern Europe-based hip-hop artist. He makes that ferocious underground sound that is fully authentic and hard hitting always, as he swarms the unsuspecting speakers like a hungry bee ready to bite down.

Ghost MC back from the dead spitting strictly revolutionary boom bap for the 21st century.” – RIP Lux

With a cinematic music video that portrays the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand back on 28 June 1914 in Sarajevo, this is a gripping visual that takes you back to that fateful day which caused more ripples than an Earthquake. Your heart beats faster and you imagine what it must of been like to witness such a history-making moment.

The political objective of the assassination was to break off Austria-Hungary’s South Slav provinces so they could be combined into a Yugoslavia. The conspirators’ motives were consistent with the movement that later became known as Young Bosnia. The assassination led directly to World War I when Austria-Hungary subsequently issued an ultimatum to the Kingdom of Serbia, which was partially rejected. Austria-Hungary then declared war on Serbia, triggering actions leading to war between most European states.” – Wikipedia

Shadows in Vienna‘ from the Eastern European-based emcee RIP Lux, is a hardcore hip-hop track that is full of ear-bending bars that slams down onto your mind to remind you of this day over one hundred years ago, that changed everything. He rips the mic off its hinges on this politically-charged single, that is stacked full of heavy rhymes of the highest quality.

Edword Evwrit wants to talk to us ‘Right Now’

Hailing from the Bay Area, California, Edword Evwrit is a solo hip hop artist, as well as a member of both Liquor Mouth and Lunaclick; ‘Right Now’ then is a delicious slab of old-school hip hop, funky and grooving, with a deep, deep pounding bass and a pretty little closed hi-hat pattern keeping everything ticking. At times it’s reminiscent of De La Soul, at others that questioning call-and-response rap style that Eminem does so, so well. There’s moments of ‘The Real Slim Shady’ here, mixed with little bits of ‘Three Feet High and Rising’ and Cube’s ‘Today Was A Good Day’.

Evwrit’s got some gorgeous flow, little double-rhymed couplets, some of the syllables cut up and spat bullet-like, others drawn out and rhythmic, with multiple rhyme patterns and a cute little semi-psychedelic drop at around the two-minute mark making ‘Right Now’ a cut above the average modern hip hop release; Evwrit’s rhyme patterns and intelligent wordplay, coupled with cracking backdrop instrumentation and arrangement, make this a stand-out track. You should check it out. Right now.

Linden Tyson brings the ‘ENERGY’ with his latest boom-bap track.

Fiery trap, 90s RnB, boom-bap, and jazz hip hop pull together as the cornerstones in Linden Tyson’s latest single, ‘ENERGY’. The New York-hailing artist brought that definitive NYC sound into the mix and plenty of his honesty through the lyrics that allow you to prize inspiration from Tyson’s hard-fought-for introspection.

The sharp and playful bars groove along with the boom-bap beats that come with a touch of classic RnB in the keys. ENERGY is practically an aural orgy of urban 90s sounds that will bring plenty of nostalgia for 90s kids.

Since 2017, Linden Tyson has been making heads spin with his dizzying canter and soul-filling 808s as an independent artist; it is only a matter of time before he gets scouted by a major label. Watch this space.

Linden Tyson’s latest single, ENERGY, is now available to stream via Spotify.

Come back to me: Spacific Brown asks for those close to return home on ‘Distant Dude’

Taken off his latest ambitious eighteen-track album called ‘High Tide‘, Spacific Brown brings his quality flow to the masses on his latest single called ‘Distant Dude‘.

A UK-based storyteller, boom-bap artist and poet, with that classic feel to his edgy music, Spacific Brown flows through the enlightened corridors with that supremely authentic feel to his music, which is full of reflective thoughts about those who have somehow hidden away from plain sight.

His lyrical delivery is raw and full of introspective pictures that paints this story as one that is underground on the tube, seeking out information about where they went to. When you are close to someone and miss their presence you have to do something about it, as you can only do so much on social media or via text.

Distant Dude‘ from UK artist Spacific Brown is a trip down the road that brings you closer to thinking of past friends and lovers who aren’t here anymore. He digs deep into the mic and lays down a track that is certainly memorable and shows that the world doesn’t need to be so forgetful and that some of us do indeed remember those who aren’t where they should be.

Sometimes you remember those good times and wonder where a person is, who was a strong figure in your life, but is now far away and you don’t know what happened to them. Life goes quickly like a blink of the eye and cherishing those special moments is so vital.

Turn this old school vibe up on Spotify and see his movements on IG.

Breakfast time gets Dangerous(X) with Honey Nut Cheerios

https://soundcloud.com/dangerousx/honey-nut-cheerios-prod-wydstepbro

Lighthearted, sample-filled, with a non-stop flow that’s in your face from start to finish, ‘Honey Nut Cheerios’ is 1’18” of ‘statement of intent’ hip hop from DangerousX, all rapid-fire hi hat triplets and thunderous bass kick behind DangerousX’s aural assault.

Sure, there’s an Eminem/Shady vibe going on, the lyrical content turning slights into ‘rap-fuel’ in the way Marshall Mathers does so well, spitting out put-downs over the heavyweight backing. Sadly, it’s over too quickly, but ‘Honey Nut Cheerios’ shows some real promise here; keep an eye out for DangerousX – who knows where he’ll end up.

Rico B – No Hooks: An Atmospherically Bass-Driven Hip Hop Debut

http://www.deezer.com/track/1054653542

Rico B has joined a plethora of Hip Hop artists who have made their debut in 2020, still, he definitely didn’t fail to make an impression. Their first single “No Hook” is a certifiable indication of plenty more fresh new drops to come from the US artist.

They’re rolling with their own unfuckwithably convictive attitude in No Hook, which is a fairly misleading title, you’ll be hooked in this atmospheric bass-driven mix from the moment you hit play. The vibe may be fairly ominous, yet, the Boom Bap mix has plenty of accessibly personable distinction to throw your way.

You can check out Rico B’s debut for yourselves by heading over to Deezer.

Gainesville rapper GB Zizzy shows his growth on ”Racks”

GB Zizzy is a multi-talented guy. He is a rapper, gamer, vlogger, prankster and does reaction videos. The reaction here is positive on his new trap-filled ”Racks”.

Taken off ”Forever In Control”, ”Racks” is a real talent who struts in with lots of confidence and doesn’t seem to mind the haters. He is tying not to let them get to him and he rides the beat like a seasoned pro on this hot new Hip Hop track.

GB Zizzy is a real new talent in the game and he has lots of interests. The flow is fly with the new school trap beat. I personally prefer boom bap but this is a quality song that shows the potential of this new artist. With lots of time to craft his style and lyrics to burn, GB Zizzy is on his way to the top with ”Racks”.

Young Sham – BlokBoy: Antagonistically Authoritative Boom Bap

Boston-based Hip Hop artist Young Sham cooked up a magnetically immersive drop with their latest single “BlokBoy” which was released earlier this year.

Boom Bap fans, in particular, are definitely going to want to pay attention to the authoritative yet antagonistically playful track. Young Sham’s lyrical wit is perceptible in every verse in the short but not so sweet mix which was produced by beatsbyneco.

Their deadpan rap delivery sits against deep ominous keys while the 808s lay down a rhythm which offers plenty of grind and make it all too easy to get hooked in the flow of BlokBoy.

It’s easy to see why we’re not the only ones getting hyped about Young Sham’s instantly arrestive approach to Hip Hop. There may be plenty of familiar elements, yet, he’s undoubtedly made the style their own.

Ill Advanced takes you back to the prohibition era with their latest Hip Hop track “Fisherman”

https://illadvanced.bandcamp.com/track/fisherman-free-download

Pittsburgh Hip Hop artist Ill Advanced dropped their latest track Fisherman on January 2nd. Before the prelude had even run through, we had the affirmation that Ill Advanced is bringing fresh new ingenuity to Hip Hop.

The decadently archaic Boom Bap single doesn’t just offer the same old Jazzy tones. Instead, it throws you right back into the prohibition era with jaunty uplifting notes in the mix alongside the steady and soft flow of the Boom Bap beats.

Ill Advanced definitely didn’t hold back with their Rap verses either. You’ll get a sure enough serving of playful, witty charisma through those, found in both the versing and the lyrics.

You can download Fisherman for free by heading over to Bandcamp.

Telephone Switches has dropped their latest High Fire Boom Bap Track “Ghosts in ‘Em”

https://telephoneswitches.bandcamp.com/track/ghosts-in-em

“Ghosts in ‘Em” is the latest Boom Bap Hip Hop track from up and coming artist Telephone Switches which comes with enough reverberant bass to shake the cobwebs off your Alt Hip Hop playlists.

The Rap bars run like metaphysical poetry into plenty of mic drop revelations, yet the narratively compelling lyrics keep to their relentless pace allowing you to get lost in the pure ingenuity.

Through the intellect contained in Ghosts in ‘Em alone, it’s a standout hit, but the stylish, atmospheric beats allow the witty sentiment to come with a jaw-drop guarantee.

The dead-pan delivery of the lyrics enabled Ghosts in ‘Em to be one of the most transfixing Hip Hop tracks I’ve heard. And now I’m incredibly aware that I’ve never had the pleasure of describing Hip Hop as transfixing before. Do you need any more of a reason to put them on your radar?

You can stream and download Telephone Switches’ latest single Ghosts in ‘Em which dropped on October 27th via Bandcamp.
