8udDha bl0od – HAUn71ng: D3M0n5: Candidly Cathartic Alt Folk Blues

Any fans of Alt Folk which comes with an ethereal chill will undoubtedly want to check out the smoking gun of a single “HAUn71ng: D3M0n5” from the experimentally dynamic Brighton-based artist 8udDha bl0od.

8udDha bl0od put his distinctive mark on a timeless sound with HAUn71ng: D3M0n5. It was more downtempo, accordant, and organic than their recent releases. Yet, it was engorging to hear the artist put their soul at the centre of the vocally-led track. 8udDha bl0od’s Indie Blues vocals float synergistically above the stripped-back acoustic soundscape which is candid as it is cathartic.

HAUn71ng: D3M0n5 shares the same accordant arrestive allure as tracks by the like of Bob Dylan, Tom Waits, and Elliott Smith, but 8udDha bl0od definitely didn’t fail to make the soundscape his own. It feels like that should go without saying when it comes to 8udDha bl0od’s music.

Wilson Blackley releases Pop single Heart Reception: A real uplifting and infectious piece

Now if you’re looking for an artist to listen too, be sure to make it Wilson Blackley. Recently dropping his latest single ‘Heart Reception’, it’s one not to miss. In his words he made it to ‘’try and lift people up in this time of chaos’’ and it certainly couldn’t have come at a better time.

Wilson has an insane vocal range, the tone is in a rather modulated style, it’s rather shrill in places but the roughness that he has to his tone makes hitting them high notes that bit easier. He portrays his talent throughout whether that’s on the guitar or the tone of voice, every part of this track has this reason to make you feel good.

As soon as you listen, your mood is instantly boosted with the pure lively energy that is injected into it, with the plucks on the guitar strings and the rather incredible guitar solos that have been added, whilst adding in this loud hard strum on strings as the volume gets louder and the rather infectious feeling fills the air.

Wilson Blackley has created a song that this year needed, after all the dreadful things we’ve been going through this is just that pick me up that we all need to delve into.

Vargen – It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue: A Solace-Spilling Rework of Bob Dylan’s Timeless Hit

Swedish Blues Folk Duo Vargen’s release of Love / Leave – 11 Songs of Bob Dylan couldn’t have been released at a better time. We’re all in need of a little escapism right now. And the timelessly consoling tones are just as solace-spilling and escapism-aiding as they were at the time of Bob Dylan’s original releases.

The tenderly emotive reimagining works bring the raw soul back to life, yet, Vargen have put their own ensnaring Bluesy spin on the soundscapes. While each track is as mesmerizingly cathartic as the last, It’s All Over Now, Baby Blue is the perfect introduction to Vargen’s boundlessly fervent style. The dual vocals harmonise over the effortlessly mellifluous warmly ethereal instrumentals to create succinct melodies which almost allow you to feel like you’re swimming in sepia.

There was no forgetting Vargen after the chills they left us with after hearing their single From Stockholm to L.A. We’re immeasurably gratified for their return with the 11 track album.

The Skeleton Krew – Love: Jaw dropping, Eye popping Goth Rock!

If all good things come in small packages, expect to listen to this song and get one of the best surprises from a dynamic duo from Jackson, Tennessee. Hunter Cross and Cameron Briley make up the members of The Skeleton Krew and their latest offering called “Love”, is already making some serious waves on the internet.

The song starts off with sweet, intricately woven harmonies, reminiscent of Crosby, Stills and Nash or Alison Krauss, and one would be forgiven for thinking that they were about to take us on a journey down the best of a scenic Country or Soft Rock road. Instead, a few face melting guitar solos, talented drum rolls and riffs that are played deep in the pocket, and an incredible vocal performance, make for a heady mix of Punk, Rock, and Goth that is teeth clatteringly good. It’s eight short bars in the back of Buick but the rest is pedal to the metal in a Mustang all the way!

You are going to want to rewind this track a few times as the musicality and vocal dexterity is subtle but brilliant.

Jo’ & Eliah – Once Again: Chillingly Kitsch Indie

Occasionally, you stumble across music that gives you goose bumps, Once Again is the chilling new single by Jo’ & Eliah that does just that. Words can’t quite capture just how succinctly the intrinsic melodies hit you throughout the regrettably short duration of this track. If the sound wasn’t enough, I can’t quite remember the last time I heard lyrics that were so poetic and flowed with such veracity. Jo’ & Eliah are two solo artists that originally joined forces back in 2016, together, the underground artists are on a mission to create deeper and more resonant tracks than what is churned out by the media. So, I for one would like to congratulate them for achieving their goal in just one anthem of a single. All it took was one track from the cute and folky dulcet indie collective to win me over.

I’m already in bitter sweet anticipation for the album. So, if you’re a fan of Bicycles in Amsterdam, Bob Dylan, & Bon Ivor, there is no better way to kick of your 2018 play list than with this debut track.

“It’s Music” – The HiGrounds’ Latest Rock And Roll Hit

Based in Manhattan Beach, CA, The HiGrounds are a band with a very particular sound that is essentially rock and roll with an evident contemporary flair. These guys share a passion for this type of music in particular, and this is shown in their music which clearly has a vintage character with a modern touch that only true dedicated musicians are able to create. With funky guitar progressions, punctuated by percussive piano and Hammond organ sounds backed by a solid rhythm section, their music is just one of a kind.

“it’s Music,” which is taken right off of their latest album “Wouldn’t Hurt To Show,” is a true reflection of what sounds and stylistic choices these guys are passionate about. The instrumental arrangement and texture do indeed provide that special vintage feel, particularly through the use of the organ, but this is not all the song has to offer. It has no shortage of catchy choruses and it also presents a feel-good sound suitable for pubs and bars, providing an authentic warm atmosphere. “It’s Music” is not only a song which is enjoyable to listen to. It is well crafted and performed. So if you like what you hear, make sure to check out the rest of the album too, and you will not be disappointed !

Annika Brown: Amanda Palmer Meets Steampunk (Only for The Brave)

Annika Brown’s Latest track Apocalypso is a theatrical spectacular. Nothing quite could prepare me for what was about to unfold over the next three minutes as I hit play on YouTube. It’s hard to pay attention to the actual sound of the track after watching the official music video in which she embraces Kate Bush style dramatics. I certainly won’t be forgetting what I’ve just heard in a long time.

Annika’s sound Is definitely an acquired taste, I’m not sure tracks such as Apocalypso will ever fair well in the mainstream, however she’s created an eclectic mix of sound which she imparts her Emily The Strange demeanour within. Even when she’s playing an acoustic guitar in the woods her unique charm is never dampened. . But that’s just part of it’s charm. Alternative music fans are in for a treat with this act. With operatic vocals, doom riddled melodies and classic piano backing track. There’s a hint of Victorian hysteria within her music, which she reincarnates through her Gothic Soprano vocals. The Same as can be heard with acts such as a Emilie Autumn and her signature Fantasy Rock styling.

The Thinking Men Release Official Video For Rock Track “I Wanna Be Good”

Rock music has infinite permutations in modern day. Under every genre, there’s a subgenre that hybrids with rock. When folks complain about a lack of rock, they ought to be more specific. Rock is everywhere, but the blues is scarce these days. Other than a few big acts, rock has had to adapt to survive. The Thinking Men seek to remind us of why we like to add rock to our music. They remember where rock came from and they know how to inject the blues into good, energetic bursts of sound creating that feeling we’ve been missing.

Their song I Wanna Be Good lends itself to a fairly simple, formulaic approach. There’s no need for too much going on in the verses as they’re a means to an end, and that end is a rip-snorting time full of aggression and virility. It’s also downright fun. This song has all the raw catchiness of garage rock with the soul and style of blues rock. The Thinking Men have form and function in mind as they bring together all the things you’ve wanted to return in a new package that can keep up with the loudness wars while retaining its rooted dignity. This can be a dangerous game though, reviving old flames. As the lyrics state, if you can’t be good, you’ll wind up dead. Let’s see how long the Thinking Men can stay on that bull and remain good.

Adam Duffill Releases Lyric Video For ‘I’ll Be Waiting’

If the term singer-songwriter seems to conjure images of an overly earnest, stubble-chinned troubadour in a wide brimmed hat churning out songs about the state of the world in a hipster coffee bar, then Adam Duffill is here to set things straight. Yes, he is a singer and a songwriter but he has something that such would-be-Dylans don’t…drama and passion.

I’ll Be Waiting may be based around his acoustic guitar but the sonic palette he employs has more in common with that of a rock band than an acoustic pop player. As such his music is big, sweeping, widescreen, honest and heartfelt. Not bad for a guy with an acoustic guitar. Walking that line between rock and pop is clever move, get the balance right and you can appeal to large sectors of both markets, the Goo Goo Dolls used it skilfully to become alt-pop-rock royalty, all Adam has to do no is write his own Iris and you can bet that moment isn’t far away.
