Pretty Creatures unleashed alt-rock’s most ominous arrival with their atmospheric single, It’s Coming

With a Slipknot Unsainted-Esque intro, Kyuss-reminiscent hard rock sludge and a similar rhythmic sense of seduction to Velvet Revolver, Pretty Creatures’ seminal track, It’s Coming, is a harbinger of overdriven atmospheric alt-rock that every self-respecting rock fan should heed.

Primed to dominate the Glasgow alternative scene, Pretty Creatures (formerly known as Dead Coyotes) have blackened their sound, allowing their new transition to coalesce with the dystopia of our modern era. Thankfully, none of their former melodicism was lost to the juggernautical furore in It’s Coming. You can’t say you haven’t been warned.

It’s Coming is out now on Spotify. Check out Pretty Creatures on their official website & Facebook.

Backyard Casino – Silver Tongue: UK Indie Rock Got Its Bite Back

Backyard Casino

Since their 2019 debut, Backyard Casino has been lauded for bringing their infamous live energy to their boisterously relatable indie rock releases; their latest single, Silver Tongue, due for release on August 26th, is no exception.

The cagey post-punk-tinged hit comes complete with Pete Doherty-Esque swaggy vocals and popping angular indie guitar melodies that pull their weight when crafting the hooks that take the anthemic energy to the nth degree.

If any new up-and-coming act has what it takes to rock a main stage festival crowd with turbulence last seen in the 90s, it is this indie powerhouse with their sneeringly clever lyricism, loveably rogue vocals and tight instrumentals. Get them on your radar.

Released from his 4-track offering THE SABOTEURS AROUND THE WORLD 9, ALIX BEILE shows us that life isn’t pretty when the evening spins out-of-control like a wobbly spin-the-bottle on SAILOR.

ALIX BEILE is an exciting indie punk project with so much verve that will probably break your wrist if you listen to closely as they bring that raw music back to the masses.

I’m a songwriter who chooses to write about villianization of people through the imagery of destitution and oppression.” ~ ALIX BEILE

Slicing through the door and bashing down anything in their way, ALIX BEILE is rather impressive for those who like it in the face and nothing less. Crammed with energy and humming at full speed, this is something to listen to when you need some extra voltage flowing through your veins.

HYG is a Canberra, Australia-based indie experimental psych rock band who returns after their previous release in 2022 called Into the New World.

BIRCHES (formally We Are The Trees) is a DIY Northern Irish indie emo band who are proudly self-produced and seemed to thrive creatively during this recent pandemic.

More of a ballad, a moody track, than our more upbeat tracks. It focuses on mental health and we hope it can encourage our listeners to speak with their friends and family about any problem or issue they are having in their life”. ~ BIRCHES

LUXTHEREAL has unleashed the alt-rock soundtrack to our destruction, Humanity’s Fall

The latest single, Humanity’s Fall, from the Phoenix Arizona hailing artist LUXTHEREAL, sonically resonates like a sombre-breakup track but the only thing that has departed is the promise of an empire that will stand the test of our destruction. The concept is stunning; the execution of the atmospherically hooky harbinger is equally sublime.

With a touch of proto-punk, garage rock and post-punk, there is a protestive vein running right through the intrinsically melodic body of the single, which forces you to contemplate our failures. And sure, it’s nice to dissociate and shop for your favourite nerd items on Amazon while the anthropocene raises the temperature and the parasites with shoes, otherwise known as our world leaders, carve out a new ring of hell on this side of the earth’s crust, but we can only hide our heads in the sand for so long before they boil in there. Kudos to LUXTHEREAL for being true to their moniker and delivering raw realism.
