Gee Beanie spoke in fluent ‘Body Language’ in his Reggaetronic debut single.

The pan-African singer-songwriter Gee Beanie sent the sensuality in the EDM genre through the roof with his cultural tapestry of a Reggaetronic debut single, Body Language, which dropped on August 25.

With his soulfully smooth vocal lines adding a sultry veneer over kicking and vibrant house-meets-afro-pop beats that bolster the intricate indie staccato melodies, Body Language is intoxicating and arrests the rhythmic pulses as well as a track with such a title should.

His ability to infuse his laid-back attitude into an exhilarating yet intimately enticing production that could enliven any dancefloor is sure to seal his successful fate in the industry.

It isn’t every day that an artist who can revolutionise a genre comes around. Save a spot on your radar for the pioneering song crafter; we have no doubts that even bigger beats are in the pipeline, especially with the promise of his debut LP, Be My Alibi?, which will be released in Spring 2024.

Unca John has unveiled his obsession-worthy eccentric indie debut, How the Hell?

It isn’t every day we find tongue-in-cheek indie acts that leave our hearts in our throats with their affable aural antics, but notably, Unca John comes from a far more endearingly idiosyncratic kettle of fish than your average rock singer.

With vocal lines that will awaken your soul as sweetly as Nada Surf and The Weakerthans paired with razor-sharp songwriting chops and lyrics that you can start relating to from the first verse, Unca John’s debut single, How the Hell? is unforgettably phenomenal. I know exactly where I will turn the next time I need a heady dose of sonic serotonin.

In his own words (that will just make you fall in love with him even more)

I’m a middle-aged economics professor living in the Baltimore suburbs, with all the fashion sense and charisma you would expect from an economics professor. I’m an average singer at best. I can’t even play guitar or piano. So what am I doing here?

The answer is in the songs. I write in the classic style—get ready for catchy riffs, hooks, harmonies and acid-tongued wordplay. You’ll hear all that and more in my debut single, “How the Hell?”, and later this summer in my upcoming single “Your Opinion” and my debut album “Midlife Crisis Vanity Project.”

My influences include the Beatles, Who, Stones, Velvets, Steely Dan, Costello, Buzzcocks, XTC, REM, Nirvana and Pavement. These are the bands that formed my musical sensibility, so naturally my sound tends towards retro. Nevertheless, I am inspired by the recent resurgence of great rock songwriting by Car Seat Headrest, Alvvays, Brittany Howard, Mitski, Big Thief, Snail Mail. Soccer Mommy and many others.

Time to Play: Dbn Kai tells haters they will be stomped into submission on In the Way

Inspired since he was young by legends such as Jay-Z and the late great DMX, Dbn Kai has dropped a massive track to stack it all up with as he shines so high that birds frolic in the sky bouncing to his beat on In the Way.

Dbn Kai is a Baltimore-based indie hip-hop artist who slices weak rappers from the earth with his ravenous style to pick up the mood of many who need a new hero to turn up loud.

Bodybuilding his way into our gym-of-life with potent power and self-motivation, Dbn Kai has lifted our mindsets with much might with a hardcore rap song to put on repeat. This is heavy stuff and shall guide us away from the commercial and back into the underground.

In the Way from Baltimore-based indie rapper Dbn Kai is the kind of statement track which will surely move small-minded fools out of our vision forever. Hard and speaker-shaking, this is the kind of 5 am track to play on repeat while getting the grind on.

We find a massively motivated artist who just wants to eat a hearty meal, in a world where so many are looking to pinch anything they can without putting any previous effort in to improve their situation.

If you like rugged rap, you have just found it.
