Indie and RnB Soul Alchemically Combine in Alvin’s Immersively Raw Single “Sentient”

Manchester has another reason to feel smug about their repertoire of musicians after RnB Soul artist Alvin released their latest EP Seven Oaks on May 1st.

Each of the tracks offers unfiltered candid lyrical poetry alongside absorbingly authentic beats, but the best introduction to Alvin’s succinct stylistic sound is undoubtedly Sentient.

By allowing the same haunting guitar tones as you’d expect to find in a Chameleons track to create the perfect platform for their equally as ethereal vocals, Sentient offers plenty of pensively immersive alchemy. But just because Alvin let his soul candidly spill out into the mix, that doesn’t mean that the track is without its soulful catharsis. Warming to new artists may not be easy, but it’s never been easier for fans of Alt Indie RnB.

Gussie Miller – The Last Page: Tenderly Soulful Neo-Soul

Not many vocalists can contend with Mike Patton’s magnetically smooth vocals in Faith No More’s iconic track Easy. But up and coming RnB Soul artist Gussie Miller achieved it with discernible ease with their recently released single “The Last Page”.

The Last Page kicks off with a soft Jazzy prelude which introduces Gussie Miller’s almost whispered vocals, and there’s a steady build-up throughout the track, yet, it’s anything but a slow burner. The instrumentals may exude mellifluously rhythmic cathartic ambience, but you’ll be locked into the progressions all the same. With the tonal warmth in The Last Page, you might just feel as though you’re swimming in pools of nostalgic sepia once you hit play.

Raélle – Close to You: Hypnotically Smooth Indie RnB

https://soundcloud.com/rebekahlindo/close-to-you/s-k9dk0

If it’s been a while since you heard an RnB single which was so effortlessly soulful it was hypnotic, I’d highly recommend turning your attention to the smooth vibes which seep from up and coming artist Raélle’s latest single “Close to You”.

The melodic downtempo Indie RnB instrumentals create the perfect platform for Raélle’s poised and nuanced yet powerfully arrestive vocals. There are also elements of ambient Jazz weaved into the soundscape for maximal tonal warmth. But where the soundscape truly sets itself apart is through Raélle’s vocals. You’d be hard-pressed to find another breaking artist with such a captivating vocal range and ability to make every lyrical line resonate. The vocal harmonies in Close to You are bordering on celestial.

You’ll have to wait a little longer before you can check out Raélle’s single Close To You for yourselves. In the meantime, you can check out the London-based artist’s earlier releases via SoundCloud.

Makia Marshall – Love Myself: Viscerally Compelling RnB Soul

There will always be space on the airwaves for RnB Soul singles which celebrate romantic love. But you’d struggle to find a track more compelling, visceral, and essential than Makia Marshall’s latest single Love Myself.

The single served the stark reminder that above all else, your ability to love yourself should take precedence. The lyrics efficaciously illustrate how low your standards can get if you don’t find love for yourself before you try to offer it to someone who never deserved it.

While the grounding lyrics will steal plenty of your consciousness as you listen to the track unfold, the smooth and ambient soundscape provides plenty of catharsis too. Makia Marshall’s effortlessly organic and soulful vocals were the cherry on the cake.

Kle’an – 9.1.1: Sentimentally Sweet Experimentally Smooth RnB

https://soundcloud.com/user-944921767-135581779/911-klean

9.1.1 is the first original track to be released by up and coming RnB soul artist Kle’an. Their previously released cover tracks demonstrated their naturally harmonic vocal talent. But 9.1.1 makes it all too perceptible that their talent also enables them to write evocatively romantic soundscapes for themselves.

Kle’an definitely didn’t hold back on the soul which was poured into the ambiently intricate single. The melodies almost give 9.1.1 a Neo-Classical feel while Kle’an’s dynamic vocals flit from crooning RnB to soft Hip Hop versing.  It may not be your average offering RnB, but it is a bold stylistic new step in the evolution of the genre which will leave you arrested by each sticky-sweet sentimental progression.
