Ten Gram Tang take us on a riot of retro bluesy rock with ‘Vintage Slide’

Smoky, sultry, husky, and bluesy, with a wicked swagger and singer/rhythm guitarist Paige Lee’s amazing vocals ‘Vintage Slide’ is the third single from Boston, MA., retro-rockers Ten Gram Tang, and it’s simply stunning. Dragging in 60’s and 70’s rock and blues references left, right, and centre – Hendrix, Joplin, Grace Slick – mixed with some more modern touchstones in the form of the Tedeschi Trucks band, the White Stripes, The Dead Weather, Beth Hart,  a dash of Melissa Etheridge, a huge dose of Elle King, with some of Lorde’s ‘Perfect Places’ melancholic breathiness, a bit of Lana Del Rey, and perhaps some Linda Perry in the background.

That by itself is a pretty heady mix, and Lee’s vocals really are that good, but once you throw in guitarist Connor Powell’s killer lead work throughout the track, and the stop-start groove driven by Kevin Reilly’s bass and guest/co-writer Michael Samse’s staccato drum patterns, you’ve got a stunning 4’20” of bluesy 70’s-inspired retro rock’n’roll with a large helping of soul thrown in for good measure.

Ten Gram Tang release their debut album in February 2021, but in the meantime, ‘Vintage Slide’ is an absolute must-have.

Arizona born Jon Davis impresses with the breakup anthem of 2020 ”Goodbye”

Some people are so ruthless with your heart. They treat you how they wish and are quick to end things to suit their own needs. There comes a time when you have to say enough is enough and cut the cord. You want to be happy and you feel like it’s the right time to be single again.

Jon Davis is a performer that has that extra special voice. He sings so purely and with absolute joy. The enjoyment levels are sky high and he has a soul vibe that can’t be taught. He just has it. I feel his uplifting music in my bones and just want to see him live and get a closer look. Coming from an acting and classical training background helps a lot as confidence is no problem. Jon doesn’t overdo it like some artists however. You can feel that he is humble and is on a mission to get his music heard all over the world.

Goodbye’‘ is in my opinion the breakup anthem of 2020. It’s been a strange year and we all just want it to end. Jon Davis strides through with confidence and to tell us all that no one is going to play him any further. With such soul and a funky beat, this is a top song that will certainly get radio and playlist love all over the globe. A full album is due for later on this year and it is already much-awaited.

Stream this song and more on Spotify from this young artist with a massive future.

Expect a Mike Patton level of aural invention from Summer Sun. I never thought I’d see the day where I’d get to say that about the debut single from an up and coming artist. RnB, Pop and Hip Hop soulfully intertwine in Prejon’s standout single “Take Off”

If breaking Alt RnB artist Prejon has evaded your radar up until now, it’s definitely time to find out what the hype surrounding his genre-mashing sound is all about. Their standout single “Take Off” serves as the perfect introduction to their smooth, constraint-crumbling urban style

Within the sweet and steady mix, you’ll find nuanced elements of Hip Hop, Pop, Reggae and Neo-Soul. Despite Prejon’s tendency to create fresh new urban soundscapes, he has kept the groove in Take Off accessibly arrestive. Take Off may venture far from what you would expect from an archetypal RnB track, but one thing which Prejon did keep traditional was the romantically-rendered soul which is poured into the vibing mix.

If your soul is still functioning, you’ll instantly warm to Prejon thanks to the artist’s charismatically humble vocal delivery which seamlessly switches from pitch-perfect harmonics to accordant Rap verses. And you can expect just as many evolutions in the sun-soaked beats.

Madhara – Colours of the Wind: A Debut of Experimentally Soulful Jazz-Infused Alt-Folk

Up and coming artist Madhara has recently made their 2020 debut with the progressively organic soulfully magnetic single “Colours of the Wind”.

Kicking off with a prelude which wouldn’t be out of place on a Thurston Moore album, Colours of the Wind quickly evolves into an ethereally comforting offer of Jazz-infused Alt-Folk. The momentum may ebb and flow. Yet your attention will never falter away from the expressive ingenuity found in their daringly bold and colourful soundscape.

With everything from sweeping piano glissandos to funk-deep bass lines to striking semi-orchestral swells, you won’t encounter many tracks from up and coming artists exhibiting such an eclectic array of experimentalism. Yet, Colours of the Wind pulled together with complete concordance. Meaning that the single was able to exude an absorbing Neo-Soul vibe which demands repeat attention.

You can check out Colours of the Wind for Yourselves by heading over to Spotify now.
