80s Synth Pop

Parsa Sabet has taken the evolution of RnB one step further with the Synth Pop hit “Yourself”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BZ54wdV7icQ

RnB Soul and Synth Pop seamlessly entwine in up and coming artist Parsa Sabet’s standout single “Yourself”. Expect euphorically entrancing synth lines paired with passion-soaked RnB Pop vocals in one of the most distinctive urban soundscapes we’ve heard in 2020.

Yourself is just one of the singles in Parsa Sabet’s 5-track EP SAD BOYS DON’T DROWN which only took the artist 5 days to complete. You’ll need to hear the track for yourselves before you colour yourselves impressed with the speed of the production.

Parsa Sabet found the perfect balance between ambience and rhythmic energy with the fresh immersive hit which has significant commercial appeal. It’s not all too often we can recommend the same artist to fans of RnB and fans of Synth Pop, and it’s certainly not every day we hear a track simultaneously offering ingenuity alongside accessibility. Get them on your radar.

ReveLever – Play with the Fire: A Synthpop Minefield of Melodic Hooks

I’m fairly convinced that old school 80s analogue synths will never lose their mesmeric appeal. Even more so after hearing the latest single “Play with the Fire” from Netherlands-based artist ReveLever.

The striking synthesised notes create the perfect platform for the female vocals to sit neatly above as they exude hypnotic levels of magnetism. As usual, the lyrics have been left light. Yet they still efficaciously draw you deeper into the mix which is an aural minefield of melodic hooks.

Play with the Fire may not be the most innovative or bold soundscape. Instead, it’s a captivating revival of the 80s Synthwave sound. ReveLever has found the perfect balance between dark and light in Play with Fire. There may be some moody tones found in the mix, yet, there’s also sensual warmth and effervescent charm.

Island Empire has created the ultimate aural paradox with their upliftingly sedative single “Air Sea Rescue”

Island Empire is an Indie Alternative Electronica duo who borrow elements of 80s Synthwave and Dreampop. But they definitely aren’t a band who can be defined by their influences.

Instead, their sound would be better understood if I alluded to their music by telling you that they created an aural paradox of uplifting sedative music. Especially with their recently released poised and polished single “Air Sea Rescue”.

The London-based artist has successfully dragged Dreampop into the realms of the accessible with” Air Sea Rescue”. The single may be warm and concordant, but there’s also an ample amount of moody gloom lingering between the notes giving the track an incredibly atmospheric feel.

Van Den Wolfe – Rising to the Top ft. Jessie Wagner: Funk-Driven Alt RnB

https://www.vandenwolfe.com/

Alt RnB artist Van Den Wolfe has made their debut with the Funk-laden album “MALBEC & BLAZE”. While each of the vibrantly groove-deep singles will speak to your soul, the perfect introduction to the artist’s nostalgically vintage sound is “Rising to the Top” featuring vocals from Jessie Wagner.

Jessie’s Soaring Pop vocals perfectly complement the bed of 80s inspired synth-pop which is joined by plenty of bendy acoustic bass licks. Yet, the most potent hit of aural alchemy is waiting for in the outro as you’re treated to guitar riffs which match the arrestive awe infused into the mix by Jessie’s vocals.

Rising to the Top is a track which keeps on giving. Van Den Wolfe’s technical ability is one thing. Their ability to make their soundscapes scream with soulful effervescent ingenuity is another thing.

If you check out any debut album from and up and coming artist this year, make it this one.
