“Maybe This Summer” is the perfect introduction to the up and coming Indie Pop artist Sunny Birla’s deeply relatable approach to melody-driven Pop. The introspective within the lyrics will either drive you into an existential hole or inspire, there’s no in between thanks to the ingenuity within the lyricism. With lines such as “our days are numbered, but I’ve stopped counting” and the textured raw and emotive delivery of the vocals to Maybe This Summer you’re in for an emotive aural experience the moment you hit play.
To find a Pop artist who pours this much soul into his soundscapes isn’t something you encounter all too often, so if you’re looking for an artist whose expression is as poignant as artists such as the National, Editors and Interpol, you’re in for a treat.
