The Rap genre is swamped with tracks about resting in peace; all reticently reflecting on lives which were lived without a reprieve from equality and positivity. With his latest track “L.I.P.” up and coming artist Stevie D went with a different approach with his prodigally ingenious lyricism which attacks the very simple age-old question of why we have to be in the ground before we experience peace. It’s a simple enough sentiment, yet the way the rising Rap artist attacks it with his perfectly metered Rap bars is enough to make the thought resonate a little deeper.
The Jazz-infused Hip Hop instrumentals allow the lyrics in L.I.P. to hit that little bit harder through their smooth arrangements which offer the perfect contrast to Stevie D’s passionately visceral versing style.
