“Broken Things” is the melancholically mesmeric debut album from up and coming Neo-Classically inspired Pop artist Stephen Piotrowski. While each of the singles on the album will make your soul feel a little exposed, “Line of Fire” is the perfect introduction to Stephen Piotrowski’s pensively rendered, intricately melodic approach to sound.
The self-taught piano player has an incredibly authentic playing style, with which he isn’t afraid to explore the darker and more perturbing notes around his ethereal vocals.
Lyrics don’t get much more candid and exposing than “I’m heading for a breakdown and you’re in the line of fire”. Admitting to mental fragility is one thing for an artist to do, but Line of Fire goes even deeper. The decision to bring female vocals in on the track amplifies the emotivity of the single poignantly alluding to the fact that hurting is even more painful when you also inflict that pain on others around you too.
