The Riot Grrrl movement may have urged girls to pick up guitars decades ago. Yet, as we’ve naturally progressed from the acoustic sound, it only makes sense that the attitude female artists poured into their Punk soundscapes into electronically engineered Pop. With none of the veracity lost, the contemporary compositions of angst are still just as visceral. Which is exactly what we saw with the up and coming 17 year old artist Scarlett’s latest single “BITE”. The provocative seamlessly produced single serves as an aural offering of frustration for the fact that the outspoken are so often oppressed. Yet, as long as there are artists such as Scarlett out there with her ingeniously metered lyrics, resounding vocal ability and capability to produce her own beats to such a high level there will always be empowerment on the soundwaves.
