Given that the underground Hip Hop scene is now swamped with New Wave Trap, it is always refreshing to discover an up and coming artist celebrating the roots of the Rap genre. Which is exactly what New Jersey, US-based Rapper Ronnie Low did with his latest release.
With his two track EP “LOWMANE” you get to appreciate his authoritatively relentless Rap style and cleverly metered bars. However, it was easy to feel that there were a few too many effects and samples thrown into the mix. While scratching samples may be an aural staple in Hip Hop, as the track ended, the effects only served to break up the rhythm in the first track “Get Low”. Track 2 “Sweet n’ Low”, dials back the tempo and treats you to a smoother Jazz-infused slow jam which offers plenty of Hip Hop romanticism which is far easier to slip into.
