“I Like Jobim” is an exceptionally experimental sun-soaked release from up and coming Electronica Brazilian artist Rogério Baraquet; it may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but for those who appreciate fresh conceptual textures in their music, thirsts will be well and truly quenched.
The soundscape bounces from being one which offers smooth jazzy lounge tones to one which allows a playful keyboard melody to take control of the progressive mix. Overall, I Like Jobim is an intriguingly indulgent track to get lost in. Yet there are a few structure issues such as the intro being a touch too long, but, once you’re safely in the verses and in the presence of Rogério Baraquet’s softly expressive vocals you’ll realise that they were definitely worth the wait.
