Filthy is the debut Alt Rock masterpiece by Rainy Days; a female-fronted instrumental powerhouse of a collective that clearly only needed one track to stamp down their resounding sound.
Women may be slowly but surely becoming more prevalent in the Alt Rock scene, but the Rainy Days vocalist’s style is unparalleled by any of her contemporaries. The seductive lyrics to Filthy only amplify the sultry vocal arrangement which sits above the reverberantly melodic instrumentals which provide the perfect platform for the overwhelmingly powerful vocals to rest upon. The chainsaw riffs from the guitar, sludgy bass progressions and harsh drum rolls come together to create one of the most concordantly raucous aural offerings of Alt Rock I’ve checked out this year.
Any fans of Garbage, Hands off Gretel and Sleater Kinney are definitely going to want to check out the sludgy masterpiece which is Filthy – you’ll definitely start to see where the band got the name of the track from.
You can check out Rainy Days first ever single Filthy for yourselves by heading over to Spotify now. I can’t even tell you how excited I am for an album release – hopefully they won’t keep us waiting too long.
