Finnish artist Peura deals in indie understatement and dream-state pop, that glorious point of collision where ambient music seems to wash all of the clutter and extraneous noise out of pop music to create something that simultaneously gets straight to the point musically but which is also transient and translucent. The Art of Dying sits at the sharp end of Peura’s decade long journey to find the music to reflect her thoughts, the perfect vehicle to capture the inherent melancholy of the sound and the hopefulness that it is found within it.
Her blend of modern dreamy pop electronica, graceful and ethereal undertones, raw and glitchy sonics and gentle dynamic payoffs coupled with an easy accessibility and a fresh and vibrant modern vibe is the sound of perhaps not where pop music goes next but an alternate, scenic pop pathway for the more discerning listener.
