If it doesn’t feel like a track has taken you on an epic journey, is it even worth listening to? I wouldn’t say so.
Whilst drinking in the deftly stylised chaos of Panda Plane’s latest single .Shadow. it was hard not to feel as though I had traversed through a medley of different tracks, the amount of progression which is packed into the five minute duration was astounding. From a prelude not too dissimilar to what you’d expect to hear on a Top Gun soundtrack to midway through when you’re treated to the swampy synthy hooks that pad out this conceptually genius single, In Panda Plane really doesn’t leave you wanting for more, especially when you take into what was by far my favourite element of the track; the instrumental breakdowns. As .Shadow. draws to a close, the digital effects digital effects were stripped back, and the guitar drove the sound along side the intricate complexity of the drum breakdowns. The Lo Fi Emo vocals may not be for everyone, but there’s no disputing that for .Shadow. they just work.
