Sharing the same amount of magnetism as artists such as Glen Hansard, Elliot Smith, and Jack Johnson allowed Noel Montenegro to make yet another arrestingly immersive single with “Garden Fence”.
The up and coming artist’s single is tentative and delicate, but the power of the vocals sitting in perfect synergy with the instrumental melody makes for a potently cathartic single which draws you right into the visceral emotion offered through the vocals.
As the track progresses, the momentum builds and in true Folk Acoustic style, the instrumental arrangement gets even more eclectic. While vocal pitch perfection has never been a necessity in Folk, with Garden Fence, the concordance which Noel Montenegro’s vocal amplifies the evocative nature of this single. It’s tangible that Noel Montenegro needed not an ounce of production to offer such polished vocals, and honestly, I’m in a little bit of awe.
