During the prelude to the first track on Myles Smith’s latest EP “Darker Days”, I prepared myself to drink in yet another reinvention of Jangle Pop. Yet, from the very first vocal note, I was sold by Myles’ mesmeric style as a lyricist and vocalist.
Whilst “Brighter Days” may have been fuelled with a quintessentially quaint Indie Pop anthemic aura track two “Broken Love” takes a melancholic turn proving that when it comes to diversity Myles has yet another box ticked. It is with Broken Love the resonance behind the vocals truly hits you. There really is no overstating the raw captivating magnetism of Myles Smith’s vocals. With track three “3”, you’re back to his high-vibe style which veers away from Pop Rock into Urban EDM, before the EP takes it down-tempo once more with “Darker Days”.
