“Fear” is the latest chill-inducing single from Hip Hop Rap artist Mr. Phelps. Not only is he a lyrical genius, he also pours all he has into his mixes to ensure that they resonate as emotively as he intended.
With the lyrics you’re treated to raw, bitter-sweet emotion which allows Mr. Phelps to lay his soul bare. With his rhythmically on-point bars, and switch up’s in style throughout the single it’s all too easy to lose yourself in the mesmeric amount of honesty that he’s served up with his single.
Each one of the singles from his album “the Vicious Cycle Vol 1” is intended to tell a story, and that’s exactly what so many contemporary artists forget to do; offer a mode of relatable communication.
Whilst much of the focus to Fear is on the vocals, the beat behind the single is experimentally fresh, yet, infinitely accessible. From tentative piano notes to orchestral swells and build ups, each instrumental segment feeds into the atmospherically visceral soundscape.
