It only took me the first verse of Monkey Trap’s latest single “Content is Chronic” to fall in love with their antagonistically playful anthem. The title single is just one of the stellar tracks from the Philadelphia-based band’s 2018 album which carries infectious a prodigally genius blend of Indie Punk and Folk.
Whilst some may say Punk is dead, it’s clear to see that it has been revived to a more melodic tune… played by musicians who can actually play their instruments. If you’ve come to expect bland and blaring three chord riffs from Punk, prepare to be disappointed by the intricate licks from the electric guitar in Content is Chronic.
Considering the fact they’ve only been around since 2017, they’ve already achieved a tight sound full of potent high-octane energy to put the attitude back into the genre.
