My Girl Thick is quite possibly the first track that I’ve ever listened to that’s put a smile on my face in the first 10 seconds of the aural audio pleasures unfolding. To say McCarren West doesn’t take a traditional approach to his Rap mixes is possibly the understatement of the century.
The enigmatic Reno, Nevada based artist first released My Girl Thick over a year ago as part of his 3-track demo. How his adept talents aren’t being blasted through the mainstream is beyond me. West has the ability to create tracks that transgress the tired notion of genre boundaries. It’s evident that music is his play thing, and notoriety is his for the taking. With one of the harshest yet amiable lyrical flows, I’m not sure if any of the other underground rappers have a chance. With the humour of Outkast and the storming power of his almost orchestral Electronic Trap mixes McCarren west infuses his sound with his natural ability to entertain crowds with his uniquely delectable Nerdcore charm.
