“December Again” is the effervescently arrestive fourth single from Indie Blues Folk artist Mark Millar. Whether it was the reflectively comforting lyrics or the tinge of melancholy amongst the warmth in the single which meant that I failed in getting to the end of the track dry-eyed, I can’t be sure.
But what I can be sure of is that it’s so incredibly rare to hear a track which doesn’t oversimplify what it is to be human. Usually, at this time of year, we’re bombarded with Christmas music which for the most part makes your soul want to leave your body for the garish plasticised sentiment it contains. But December Again is as captivatingly soulful as Elliot Smith’s, Nick Drake’s or Leonard Cohen’s tracks.
