Malcolm Duff’s single Light hit me like a tonne of bricks. Whether it was the subtly sweet acoustic melodies which came from the jangly progression of the guitar or the sentimentality which was poignantly penned into the lyrics I can’t be sure. But what I can be sure of, is that Light comes together through ethereal beauty, reminiscent to the likes of Tom Waits and Elliot Smith. Many Folk singer songwriters may try their hand at love songs, but Malcolm Duff has such an expressive style, the melancholy of the composition pierces through you. Debut tracks don’t get more stunning than Light.
You can check out Malcolm Duff’s debut single Duff for yourself by heading over to SoundCloud now, I’d also recommend checking out his other viscerally perfect recently released singles. If Light wasn’t enough to draw me into the grips of melancholy Goodbye For Now firmly fixed me there.
