In recent years, I’ve developed an aversion to any Trap artist with “Lil” in their name, yet up and coming rap artist Lil Pipe proved to be the exception with his emotively revelatory latest single “Beaten & Broken”. The lush synth reverb acts as a prelude, which brings in the light and melodic multi-layered Trap beat and remains as a constant right the way through the track adding an infinite amount of catharsis to the downtempo mix.
At 1:43-minutes long, Beaten & Broken is a piercingly sharp, yet short and sweet mix which will stay with you long after the single has faded out. Whether it’s the haunted melodies in the perfectly produced track or the weighted lyricism which will hit you the hardest, you’re going to come out on the other side with a new favourite Trap artist on your list.
