Lauren Martinez has switched up her signature Folk style with her latest single “Blue and Grey”. Whilst her previous tracks held an infinite amount of aural appeal, it’s with Blue and Grey that the up and coming Pasadena-based artist really came into her own. What starts off as a simple acoustic Pop ballad progresses into an immersive dark electro Pop hit with the beat moving between tentatively light piano progressions and a beat which wouldn’t sound out of place in a heavy Trap mix. Keeping it all together is the 20 year old singer songwriter’s dynamically arresting vocal capacity. Despite her age, she has already mastered multiple acoustic instruments and learned how to produce. Lauren Martinez may just be the prodigal daughter of Indie Pop.
