LaShonda Schofield has just released her 2018 single Wash That Man. As soon as I hit play on the track I was hit by a wave of Nostalgia after finding the reminiscence between LaShonda’s style and the iconic Pop artists of the 90’s such as Destiny’s Child and TLC. No one seems to make music like that anymore. Apart from LaShonda Schofield.
It has to be said, the track gets off to a fairly weak start with a rather drawn out use of non-lexical vocals before she kicks into the first verse of her new track Wash That Man. Yet once the high-vibe beat kicks in there’s no looking back, only forward through the swirls and drops of the Jazz inspired Urban Pop beat. To create a visceral contrast between instrumentals and vocals the beat sits neatly behind the vocal-led track. I’m pretty sure there has never been a more ingenious track written about washing your hair.
So, for anyone looking for a nostalgic Pop fix, head on over to Spotify where you can soak up LaShonda’s soulfully empowering vibes.
