After getting a glimpse of Kian Russell Band playing live via one of Live Circuit’s videos on Facebook, I’ve been itching for an official release. That itch has definitely been scratched by the release of their first EP “Off the Ground”.
At the age of 16 years old, Kian Russell has already proven that they’re an aural force to be reckoned with. Especially through the first track on the EP “Bullet Through the Heart”. It’s Buckcherry style raucous rock, with a sublime difference. And it’s that sublime difference which saw Kian Russell becoming a Blackstar Amplification endorsed artist. His riffs in Bullet Through the Heart will have your heart in your throat as you listen to the virtuosic licks break into a colourful Psychedelic Blues which have a palpitatingly sweet effect.
So often when a guitarist can hit you with that kind of fretboard mesmerism, it’s easy to cut corners in other aspects of the track. Yet, it’s captivating from start to finish. Kian Russell’s effortlessly magnetic vocals carry the perfect amount of charisma and swagger without being abrasive. Combine that with an atmospherically unforgettable chorus, and you’ve got a hit.
Kian Russell is inarguably one of the most exciting up and coming musicians we’ve heard this year. It’s only a matter of time before major waves are made.
You can check out Bullet Through the Heart for yourselves along with the rest of the EP for yourselves by heading over to Spotify now.
