There are acoustic recording artists, then there’s Kaitlin Huwe; a phenomenally styled singer songwriter from Mountain View California. In her sound she instils the warmth of the Californian sun, creating a vibrant eccentricity which is palpable in her latest single The Old Man & His Daughter. The sentiment in the lyricism was ethereally haunting, through her blissfully warming vocals she paints one of the most beautiful illustrative stories I’ve ever heard told through an acoustic track. One of the more poetic lyrics that I have no doubt will stick with me forever is ‘”Love isn’t love if it makes you feel hollow’. Show me one lyric more beautiful than that. To create the harmony of the track Huwe drafted in Andreas Geck on bass, Hillary Smith on Cello and Melinda West on Accordion who created a pensive cacophony of resounding sound.
For fans of Daughter, Bon Iver and London Grammar, you’re in for a treat.
