The topic of racial prejudice in America is a hot topic on many Rap artist’s lips at the moment; all I can say is kudos to artists such as John Will tackling the gritty subject matter. God knows how many tracks I’ve listened to about getting high or drinking Hennessey this year. Thank God emerging artists such as John Will who have taken a lyrical stand, but, as sobering as the content is, damn the lyrics are infectiously hot and catchy thanks to John Will’s playful approach to lyricism. His latest single Black in America which dropped in June 2018 is as resounding as it is genius. The mid-tempo beat allows you to drink in each ounce of sentiment on offer in the conceptually perfect track.
If you’re a fan of Childish Gambino, R3LL, J.Cole or Kendrick Lamar head on over to SoundCloud where you can check out the conceptually grounding track Black in America, let’s help the Chicago based Rap artist go viral yeah?
