After hearing Jacob Mondry’s single “Colour Me Blue”, we were expecting more quintessentially charming records to follow. What we definitely weren’t expecting was a quintessentially charming track titled “The Winning Sperm”.
Before I pressed play, I knew it would win me over. Any single which strips back the romanticism about what it is to human will always be worth its weight in aural gold. Sure enough, we weren’t disappointed.
The devilish wit in the lyrics paired with the accordantly innocent Indie Folk vocals and the gentle acoustic instrumentals is something you’re going to have to hear for yourselves to fully appreciate.
Not every artist could get away with such a borderline crass topic and still win you over. Perceptibly, Jacob Mondry isn’t your average artist. And it’s not only us who think so, after signing a deal with Universal Records, it’s easy to expect big things to come from the LA-based artist.
