While the Hip Hop artist ChinksFromMars may have gone with a seemingly very questionable artist name, thankfully their latest drop “MISUNDERSTOOD” is slightly less disconcerting. While there was a massive elephant in the room as I listened to an artist going by a title that may offend 1.35 billion Chinese people it was still easy to appreciate the contemporarily fresh Rap track.
ChinksFromMars teamed up with Dizzi Da Clippah who provided a nice vocal contrast in the bars which had a smooth flow, yet there could have been plenty more synergy between the Hip Hop beats and the vocals. But that’s not to say that producer Birdie Bands didn’t pull together the mix well to create a Hip Hop track which plays plenty of odes to the roots of the genre while managing to keep it fresh.
