New York-based Art Rock artist Ghost x Gardens has recently released their latest single “Hittin’ the Bricks”, as soon as you hit play on the track, you know that you’re listening to a pioneering piece of music unfold. The Psychedelic Jazz Blues notes from the brass wraps around the rolling, steady Rock rhythm from the crunchy reverb-soaked guitars which is accompanied by a soulful glam vocal offering.
The spoken word piece which follows the anthemic melody of Hittin’ the Bricks may not be of appeal to everyone, but music such as this isn’t intended for mass appeal. It’s expressive, it’s unrestrained, it’s boundaryless and it allows the raucously decadent sound which has previously unfolded to resonate that little bit harder. If you don’t applaud Ghost X Gardens for his aural ingenuity, you have to hand it to him for the ballsy experimentalism. I definitely won’t be forgetting about his chaotically gritty sound in a hurry.
