Straight from the intro I was sold on Ghengis Kang’s new single Never Sober; which may have had a lot to do with the 90’s videogame walkthrough music vibes I was fronted with when I hit play. Yet the nostalgia factor is just one reason why it was so easy to fall in tune with the stylish Trap beat to Never Sober.
Never Sober may be short mix, but within the two-minute delivery Ghengis Kang packs quite the punch with his lyricism. It may not be anything new for a Hip Hop Rap artist to spit bars about getting high, yet Ghengis Kang attacked the soundscape with a brand-new approach. The gritty realism to the lyrics allowed the verses to really resonate through the mid-tempo unaggressive lyricism.
Any fans of Lil Peep, Yung Lean and Post Malone will want to soak up the idyllic new wave beats on offer from the US based Rap artist and producer. I’d expect to hear a lot more from the up and coming artist in the future.
