Usually, I’d refer to dark and ominous Electronica tracks as ‘dystopian’. Yet, with FØREST FIRES’ 2019 Anthropocene exploring album “I/Ii” it’s a sobering reminder of the catastrophic times we are living in.
While escapism music is essential, music which reflects our reality is equally as necessary – even if what we see through those artful mirrors isn’t all too pretty.
Each track on the album aurally addresses a different facet of environmental disaster, but the perfect introduction to FØREST FIRES’ sound is the track “Climate Change”. The dread laden notes make excellent use of spatial effect throughout the ambient yet chilling track while sinister effects amplify the tensely immersive gravity of the single.
Climate Change is available to stream along with the rest of the album via Spotify.
Make sure you keep up to date with the latest releases from FØREST FIRES via Facebook as they’ve got a 12” vinyl in the works due to be released in February 2020.
