Functional Music for Lovers is the debut dreampop album from FMFL, if you’re looking for an electrifyingly cathartic mix, you’re in for an absolute treat, also a Theremin… who doesn’t love a Theremin?!
Each of the ten tracks on the album progress with blissfully nostalgic tonality, fluid progression and solid structuring, FMFL knows exactly where he wants his soundscapes to take you and leads you there with his deft command of the synthesiser. Some of the tracks run a little more playfully than the more pensive tracks to the debut album, which gives the album a great diversity and makes it the perfect soundtrack to kick back to. When you get to track number 5 ‘Labyrinth’ on the album, it’s hard for your ear drums not to stand to attention, after you’ve just been treated to ambient dream wave, things take a more industrial turn. Yet even with the heavier tracks the vocals remain to be as sweet as ever- they do one hell of a job drawing you into the transience of the melodies with pitch perfect harmony.
FMFL’s debut album Functional Music for Lovers is scheduled for release on August 8th, 2018, so save the date, and prepare for some of the most fragile, dreamy electronica soundscapes that you’ve checked out this summer.
