RZA fans will be in absolute heaven with Dylan Cozart’s latest single ‘Apple J’ featuring Big Baebe. Whilst the artists take a slightly more playful approach to their lyricism and bars, they still have the same feverish style as the infamously rhythmic Rap artists. Whilst most Hip Hop artists are spitting bars about being a self-aggrandized Hennessey sipper Cozart is versing about apple juice which is infinitely more refreshing… Pun intended.
There’s a prodigal quintessence which seeps through the progression of Apple J, it’s clear that each element of the song was constructed to create an experimentally alive Hip Hop track which defies reminiscence from other contemporary artists. Instead of relying on samples to bring Apple J to life, Dylan Cozart relied on a friendly keyboard to lay down a concordantly innocent backbone to the track which is then infused with the upbeat kicks of the 808’s and the perfect lick of reverb. Apple J was released August 2018 and the Summer Trap track has already had over 55k streams on SoundCloud alone. It would be no surprise if Dylan Cozart’s next track ended up a viral hit.
You can check out Apple J for yourselves by heading over to SoundCloud, you’ll be sure to appreciate the witty punchlines which seem to repeatedly bruise you throughout the verses.
