In the early 00s we were inundated with gritty, raw, antagonistically sweet Indie anthems. Yet, finding a current up and coming artist with that same visceral bite, is like finding a needle in a haystack. It’s easy to claim Rock n’ Roll is dead without hearing explosive tracks such as “Glass Jaw” by Cucamaras.
The fourpiece band have recently released their debut 3-track EP “Until the Meter Runs Out”, and Glass Jaw is the perfect introduction to their progressively immersive sound. With their throbbing basslines, soaring riffs and vocals sitting in such a tight energetic arrangement its impossible to see how Cucamaras could stay on the underground.
While there is some reminiscence in the sound to The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, and the Black Keys, there is plenty of distinction in their Indie style which mainly falls down to the snipingly arrestive lyricism.
