It’s not all too often that an Alt Rock artist comes along who truly leaves me transfixed by the authenticity of their sound. But up and coming artist C’nergi didn’t fail to bowl me over with their single “Hope and Paradise”.
While you may be able to grasp at faint reminiscences in the soundscape, their strained, unfiltered, passion-driven vocals sitting against such a stylistic mellifluous instrumental arrangement isn’t a sound which you’ll hear on the airwaves frequently.
For their progressively rich sound, the Reading, UK based artist looks outside of Western culture. C’nergi infuses their sound with a subtle hint of Afro-rhythm whilst making sure that the complexities are still infinitely accessible to anyone who favours four bar chords.
Just imagine a meeting of the styles of Faith No More and Amanda Palmer, and you may be able to get an idea of what C’nergi has to offer.
