Californian experimental Pop artist Ckeelay has taken R&B Pop to the next level with his latest single “Outside” featuring Enzo Langston. I can say in all honesty that I’ve never heard such mesmeric guitar effects layered into an R&B Pop track in my life.
Considering that Outside was self-produced, mixed and mastered by Ckeelay themselves, I can’t help but find myself in absolute awe of the sheer amount of talent which is contained within this mix. The reverb-soaked Jangle Pop rhythms sit against the drum pads as though it’s the most natural thing in the world, and under Ckeelay’s deft command, it absolutely is. Then, there’s the addition of Ckeelay’s powerfully magnetic vocals which perfectly rest above the aural alchemy.
The experimentalism is one thing, the seamless ingenuity of the completely prodigal soundscape was something else entirely; and you’re definitely going to have to check it out for yourselves.
Ckeelay’s single Outside is available on SoundCloud now.
