I don’t know whether to be terrified or in awe of Charlie Monroe’s latest track Funeral. Yet straight from the intro you’re hooked. Who’s dead?! Why did they die? Why am I scared?
The haunting dread in this track is disturbingly palpable, I’m not quite sure if that was the direction that Charlie Monroe was going with his track, but I got there anyway. Charlie Monroe hooked up with Producer by ICMD to create this thriller of a track that makes Michael Jackson’s thriller sound like a Disney soundtrack. The track is only 1 and a half minutes long, but that’s all it takes after leaving a fairly scarring impression. The church bells ringing in the prelude is a sound straight out a horror film. Her twistedly macabre style is definitely memorable and definitely has you hooked on the Rap artists Alternative style. After checking out the rest of her music I can confirm that Funeral isn’t the only slightly warped track. Perhaps if more Urban artists embraced the strange such as Charlie Monroe the Hip Hop scene would be infinitely more interesting!
