If you didn’t think an organic soundscape could be born out of the Pop genre at this stage in the game, well, think again because Ceylon Ceylon’s latest collaboration with Katie Addy is as prodigally inspired as it gets.
With the inability to draw reminiscence to any other contemporary act on the scene to date I was left with no choice but to appreciate the latest single ‘Havass’ dropped by Ceylon Ceylon as it stands in a league of its own. One things for sure, you certainly don’t get don’t get to hear such jazz-soaked instrumentals in many contemporary Pop tracks. Their experimental genre mash definitely paid off; you may not hear a soulfully commanded saxophone being played in most mainstream Pop tracks, but let’s face it, that’s all a bit monotonous these days anyway. Whilst the vocals to Havass could have been a little stronger instead of getting lost within the up-vibe Funk-steeped track, I can’t help but strongly rate this track.
