Lindsey Sampson – Sand: An Elemental Folk-Pop Triumph.

With frenetic synth sequencing that made us nostalgic for the soundscapes from Alan Vega, the pop singer-songwriter, Lindsey Sampson’s latest single, Sand, is an elemental triumph.

Oceanic momentum flows through progressive rising tides in the un-archetypally structured single that harnesses deep reverence for natural phenomena and articulately observes how nature often works to reflect introspective sensations.

Lindsey Sampson, who spends her time between Nashville and New England, marries the soul of country with a contemporary indie folk pop edge that is definitively hers. We can fully attest to her ability to appeal to the spirituality that lies within us all – regardless of whether we nurture that relationship or not.

Since her humble beginnings, the singer-songwriter has been nominated for the award of Best Female Performer at the New England Music Awards and received many other accolades along the way while performing solo and as part of her folk-rock band, Visiting Wine.

Sand will officially release on January 27th. Dig your toes in on SoundCloud.

Goshok captured the euphoria in affectionate obsession in his EDM hit, On My Mind

Capturing the euphoria in the moment where affection turns to obsession, the independent Czech songwriter, DJ and producer Goshok let the evocative floodgates open in his entrancing EDM mix, On My Mind.

Never one to pigeonhole himself under the EDM umbrella, the Dance music producer gives himself free rein to experiment and amalgamate elements from other subgenres, and that more than shows in the naturally powerful progressions in On My Mind.

The arrestingly ardent single pulls you safely through the heart-in-mouth drops and the tension-fraught build-ups that leave you in galvanised anticipation for the stylishly produced beat to drop. If you want to hear an artist at the top of their game, hit play.

On My Mind was officially released on December 9th. Check it out on Spotify and SoundCloud.

Vintage synths create oceanic sanctum in Huts on Beaches’ debut electronica release, Coastal Signals

After finding an affinity for the irreplicable timbre and feel of retro synths, the Mosta, Malta-based electronica duo, Huts on Beaches, collected, restored, and used them to craft their euphonically tranquil debut single, Coastal Signals, which officially released on September 20th.

The instrumental extended release, which bridges the gap between organic house and minimalist techno, was designed to envelop the listener in the catharsis that the ocean brings in with the tides. Bringing the elementally restorative power of the ocean to the airwaves was no easy feat. Huts on Beaches were undeniably successful in their debut, which is an incredibly promising sign of what’s to come from the duo, whose first release wouldn’t be out of place on the iconic soundtrack to The Beach.

The single was produced in the duo’s studio with both members, Karl Gauci & Keith Bunce, contributing to synth & drum machine sequencing.

Here’s what Huts on Beaches had to say after making their debut:

“Coastal Signals is our debut single, inspired by the freedom of expression in all forms of media, but in our case, our music. We live on a busy island; one of the few places to clear your head and readjust is the sea. The calmness and the waves clear our mindset, hence our moniker.

We wanted to give the listener an uplifting and welcoming atmosphere that reiterates the message that courage can always be found to express thoughts, even if it is difficult. Sonically, the single is dreamy yet punchy to reflect the challenge of expression.”

Add Coastal Signals to your downtempo techno playlists on Spotify & SoundCloud.

Follow Huts on Beaches via Instagram, and stay tuned for news of their sophomore soundscape, Leap, which is due to premiere on December 1st.

B-Fix holds a candle in the firestorm of his EDM pop single, Come Back to Me

https://soundcloud.com/b-fix/come-back-to-me

The Perth-born, London-based DJ, songwriter and music producer, B-Fix dialled the soul up to 11 in his latest progressive dance-pop hit, Come Back to Me. The future bass meets progressive house pop single holds a candle for the spark of a once-in-a-lifetime love while breaking sonic boundaries through B-Fix’s genre-obliterating inclination as an aural innovator.

B-Fix found his passion for music in the punk rock scene before dominating the EDM genre with his stormy high-energy hooks and ability to dizzy his audience with his bass-drenched drops. On the basis of Come Back to Me alone, innovation-hungry dance fans will want to save a spot on their radar. He has exactly what it takes to be bigger than Wave Racer, Vanic and Flume. Watch this space.

Come Back to Me officially released on October 21st. Check it out for yourselves on SoundCloud.

TaidiClub pours soul across a harsh electronic landscape in his latest single, Rome

The up-and-coming alternative artist, TaidiClub traversed love, life, and dreams in his scintillating LP, Lovin3D! The standout single, Rome, puts vulnerable, harmonised pop vocal lines across harsh and discordant beats as a striking exposition of what it means to be human in a jarring and inhospitable world that would chew you up and spit you out given half of the chance.

The industrial meets post-punk EBM beats is a markable sonic shift away from the mainstream, but TadiClub’s sweet vocal timbre that will be a hit with any fans of the Weeknd and the Midnight pulls the track right back to the realms of commercial potential. Only the soulfully defunct can let Rome fade to a close without being absorbed by the uninhibited ingenuity.

Rome will officially release on October 28th; check it out on Spotify.

Leah Jean delivered an indie-jazz meditation in vulnerability and cathartic melody with her single, Stalker

Nashville-residing Indie-folk experimentalist, Leah Jean, laid down lo-fi jazz-infused blues in her latest dreamy trip-hop-y single, Stalker, taken from her upcoming debut album, Creatures in the Room.

Muses find us in the strangest places, but Leah Jean’s crept up behind her in this vocally soulful feat of indie Avant Garde, which uses playful subversion to turn her stalker into an almost affable entity that plays into her melancholy-tainted world in intimately fine detail.

With a lyrical narrative that sucks you in as much as the wavy saturated in delay instrumentals that swoonsomely envelop you in their kaleidoscopic colour, Stalker is a meditation in vulnerability and cathartic melody.

Stalker will officially release on October 28th. Hear it on Spotify.

Sam Collins set a celestial melodic techno score in his latest mix, Orion

The up-and-coming Netherlands-based techno producer, Sam Collins, launched his latest meditatively melodic single, Orion, on September 27th. Strap yourselves in for a spacey trip through the extensively mythologised constellation.

Much like his eerily cold debut mix, Sam Collins’ sophomore release gently builds in momentum through the instrumental progressions after a dystopic ambient industrial prelude and pounding bass kicks which break into electro melodies that will become your new sense of gravity for the entire duration of this immersively dark mix which asks for no permission before it entrancingly takes over your rhythmic pulses.

Orion is now available to stream on Spotify & Bandcamp.

Dare Wood’s lyrically awakening latest EDM hit, Sandman, is undeniably for the dreamers. The Nashville-based up and coming artist has developed a staunch following with his fusionist sound, which pushes together textures of hip hop, pop, and dance to complement his Rockstar vocal delivery and lyrical storytelling. Sandman balances emotional vulnerability and realism with introspective gold that listeners can cash in every time they sink into the immersively melodic hit.

Just a month after the release of Sandman, it has racked up 26k streams on SoundCloud alone. The rhythmic grooves and the arrestive passion that was poured into every facet of the production pushes EDM into unchartered waters. Yet that does little to quash the commercial potential of the wordsmith & sonic pioneer who promises to remain on the edge of breaking new trends as his style perpetually evolves.

Kihmy added a new depth to house with her imploring vocal range in her cinematically arrestive single, It Won’t Be Late

Swiss-born electronica artist and producer Khimy has released her subversively arrestive single, It Won’t Be Late, which starts with an archetypal for house intro before the soulful resonance sombrely transforms the energy of the dance track by appealing to the deepest sense of your consciousness through the lyrics which decree that all will happen in good time and on time.

Uniqueness isn’t always synonymous with greatness, but with Kihmy’s imploringly deep vocal range and the way the complexity of her lyricism recontextualises her entrancing beats, those adjectives fit snugly hand in glove.

It Won’t Be Late is due for release on September 30th; catch it on SoundCloud.

Rachel Burns beat the odds in her theatrical retro-soul track, I Did It

Slip into the retro soul of Rachel Burns’ latest pop single, I Did It, which spins a tale of triumph over trauma and adversity. The journey from surviving to overcoming to thriving is scarcely pretty; the Washington, DC-based singer-songwriter brought a profound amount of grace to the subject matter regardless.

The Gospel-Esque backing vocals take Burns’ soul-awakening vocal timbre to mind-blowingly celestial heights. When she stretches for those stridently high vocal notes, you’ll get a first-hand account of her resilience and the resilience that most of us have to muster to piece ourselves back together.

Inspired by Amy Winehouse, Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner, Rachel Burns has exactly what it takes to become a legend in her own right with the theatrical twists to her signature sound, which plays with nuances of blues, country and jazz.

I Did It will officially release on September 30th. Check it out on SoundCloud.
