Nikkita prescribes optimism in her debut EDM pop hit, Looking Up

From the suburbs of Perth, the breaking EDM pop artist, Nikkita delivered her internationally resonant synth-driven debut single, Looking Up. Usually, there is a compromise between evocative power and sonic momentum in the pop genre; Looking Up finds the perfect balance of optimistic vulnerability and sheer perennial pop earworm potential.

Debut releases don’t often come as euphoria-inducing as Looking Up, which uses dizzying crescendos and massive future bass breaks to remind you of the visceral sensation that comes as a consequence of finding the freedom in optimism. Yet, I do not doubt that Nikkita’s vocal timbre would be as enlivening in acapella. She has everything it takes to become the next big pop sensation; with plenty of material in the pipeline, she is one to watch.

Looking Up was officially released on January 28th; you can check it out for yourselves on SoundCloud.

The reverb-laden composition is a crystal-clear reflection of the artist’s influences that stretch far beyond music genres. Echoes is simultaneously everything it says on the tin and so much more.

Acrid Key has ‘Nothing to Lose’ in their Lynchian synth-pop meets electronic rock single.

“Nothing to Lose” is the latest Lynchian feat of soothing alt synth-pop from the up and coming experimental luminary Acrid Key. Once the Twin Peaks vibes in the intro are out of the way, the wavy distorted guitar tones continue to hammer and shine through in the downtempo instrumental mix in an indulgently hypnotic fashion.

The US-based artist and producer released Nothing to Lose as an entrancing showcase of his alt-indie inclination. Instead of following fads and making attempts at assimilation, Acrid Key follows his own vibe and lays them out in trippy synth-laced grooves. With that in mind, the hazy discordantly-tinted soundscape becomes all the more efficacious in aiding aural escapism.

Nothing to Lose is now available to stream on SoundCloud.

Future bass fuses with classical in GASP’s ethereal electronic single, Qualified.

Electronica artist and producer GASP has released his ethereal debut album, CHILL FOREST MIX, which takes aural escapism to a whole new level. The Tampa-based artist fused his love of future bass, funk and classical into the ambiently explorative works that are quite literally a breath of fresh air for their embodiments of nature.

The standout single, Qualified, sets itself leagues apart from the predictable dystopic tracks that have flooded onto the airwaves recently. Qualified keeps its humanity and autonomy through the quiescent vocals which sporadically appear between the uniquely structured progressions. If you can imagine what Hozier would sound like if they became a ghost in the machine, you’ll get an idea of just how soulfully haunting the vocals are in Qualified. Instrumentally, it breaks a new aural boundary with every new evolution in sound.

Qualified is now available to stream with the rest of CHILL FOREST MIX via Spotify.

KillerMiracle has released their grungy acoustic rock ballad, Dreamcatcher.

For any fans of Soul Asylum’s pensive side, KillerMiracle’s acoustic rock ballad Dreamcatcher is a must-experience sonic slice of raw emotion. The easy acoustic guitar chords paired with the hard melancholy is an intoxicatingly cathartic mix.

The mournful lyricism is served through hazily scorned whiskey-soaked vocals against the almost cinematic instrumental score that goes far beyond your average rugged and rough rock ballad. There’s so much poise within the intensity of Dreamcatcher; KillerMiracle’s matured songwriting style is a breath of fresh air on the airwaves. We can’t wait to hear how he follows on from this bitter-sweet sophomore release.

Dreamcatcher was officially released on November 25th. You can check it out yourselves by heading over to SoundCloud.

Davesar – Fates Dance featuring Archana: Dark, dancey indietronica alchemy.

Davesar

NYC artist and producer, Davesar, may be still flying under the radar since his debut but with his latest dark and moody single, Fates Dance, featuring Archana, he’s proven that he has what it takes to climb the electronic charts.

Fates Dance carries the gravitas of Warpaint, Portishead, Policia, Chelsea Wolfe and Crystal Castles with all of the excitement of discovering a new artist with the ability to orchestrate his own very distinct brand of dark dancey alchemy. The indietronica beats are a triumph within themselves; in combination with the clever layering of vocal melodies, Fates Dance feels like exactly that; a whirlwind of rhythm through the futility of trying to control your fate.

Archana’s sultry in spite of being commanding vocals were a perfect fit for the track around Davesar’s compassionately gentle vocal timbre. The collaborative chemistry between them is potent; we can only hope there is more music from the collab in the pipeline.

Fates Dance is due for release on November 19th, 2021. You can catch it for yourselves by heading over to SoundCloud.

Dogjoy takes ‘Control’ in their autonomy embodying feat of alt-electro.

Floridian alt electro-pop duo, Dogjoy, have released their most entrancing single to date with the bit-crushing seminal track, Control. The dance-worthy  hit combines the duo’s love of 808s against distorted synths and lush vocal melodies; it’s a bitter-sweet aural pill that fans of Chemical Brothers, Caribou and Crystal Castles will want on prescription.

With the hypnotically layered vocals emanating empowered autonomy, it’s an intoxicating inhibition-stripping track like no other – imagine Peaches’ sultrier sonic cousin.

Control was officially released on November 11th. It is now available to stream on Spotify.

Prepare your ambient playlists for the chill wave catharsis in !Noj’s latest single, sweet memories

!Noj

‘sweet memories’ is the latest Synesthesia-inducing single to be released by the Netherlands-based chill hop experimentalist, artist and producer, !Noj.

The ambient lullaby chimes through hypnotic melodies, leaving ample space for points of reflection before the next progression that drags you deeper into the soundscape. With the beats keeping track like a metronome, the neo-classically underlined melodies add even more magnetism to the instrumental score.

sweet memories is enough to impart what it says on the tin; it provides a brief window of tranquillity; given the times we’re living in, you should probably take any chance you get to pull your mind out of the gutter.

Discover your new metaphysical playlist staple with Basil Babychan’s ambient composition. Phantasm

Hans Zimmer fans will want to delve into the latest composition by Indo-Dutch artist Basil Babychan which extends his mission to create music from the soul for the soul; the concept behind the neo-classic ambient composition, Phantasm, is a lesson in philosophy. In his own words;

“Coping mechanisms are often subject to debate and scrutiny. They improve mental and emotional well-being by addressing anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns, derived from painful real-life events. In many cases, one makes conscious or unconscious choices that enhances control over behaviour or gives psychological comfort by creating an alternate reality. Fantasy and Reality often overlap. We need Fantasy to survive our Reality.”

Phantasm unravels as the perfect soundscape to embrace our true reality, in all of its infinite metaphysical possibility and beauty. In the prelude, the intricate keys start tentatively ascending, as more layers amass in the meditatively textured single; Phantasm becomes a transcendental experience that reminds you, we’re all just energy constrained by our vision of a 4D reality.

Phantasm is due for official release on October 29th; you can check it out for yourselves via SoundCloud.

LA alt-electronica artist and producer Romy has unleashed her pitch-black industrial pop track, Penance.

Romy

Romy’s latest single, Penance, is enough to make Peaches sound tame. Against the industrial Nine Inch Nails-inspired beats, her sultry, fierce vocals spill enough magnetism to rival Shirley Manson while she roars through the lyrics that lament the dankness of society while making the unignorable request for the world to be gentle amidst the chaos.

The Australian LA-based artist and producer has exactly what it takes to dominate the mainstream and the grimy underground of alt-electronica. Any fans of Skinny Puppy, Grendel and Faderhead will be won over by the caustic beats. When it comes to the hooky pop elements, no one will be immune to their draw.

Check out Romy on SoundCloud, Instagram and her official website.
