After impressing us with his previous single ‘The Sun Is Up‘ from July 2021, John Lion shows us the first single off his upcoming EP that is due for release soon with the story all about the forbidden love he needs to forget on, ‘Tea Lady‘.

John Lion is a London, UK-based indie-folk singer-songwriter who makes a blend of music that is always sincere and filled with soothing soundscapes.

A folk tune that takes its inspiration from the likes of Bob Dylan, Paul Simon and other folk heroes.” ~ John Lion

Bringing forth mellow energy that is packed with life and love that so many will possibly find eerily familiar, John Lion guides us inside his mind that has decided that his best friend is more important to him, that a romance that might not be possible anyway.

Tea Lady‘ from London, UK-based indie-folk singer-songwriter John Lion sends a picture of emotion that has many potential possibilities, but ultimately a dead-end if you want to keep that true friendship alive. He sings with an easygoing style that is rather unique and displays the truth to be shone so that it may set him free.

This is a track for anyone who has almost done something that could have shattered like glass all over the floor when you felt something that perhaps wasn’t reciprocated by the other side.

Love is rather harsh sometimes after all, should you fall feel tenderness with the wrong person.

Country and Roots Originators, Few Miles South, Delivered a Pick-Up Truck of Wholesome with Their Latest Single, Doggone

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iFNbJiDfj3g

The country and roots collective, Few Miles South, may have been dubbed the ‘Country Pretenders’, but their latest single and music video, Doggone, set them apart as distinguished escapist originators.

I haven’t been as endeared by Bluegrass Americana since wandering into a festival tent and discovering Hayseed Dixie in a cider-addled haze. Yet, despite the pickup truckload of heckin’ wholesome, Doggone was never in any danger of registering as a novelty.

There’s some serious gravitas in this ode to one of the best fuzzy 4-legged aspects of our existence. Toni’s timelessly arrestive vocals against the punchy rhythms, blazing acoustic guitar solos, and the striking fiddle are an alchemic mix.

Doggone will officially release on May 13th; you can check out the official music video by heading over to YouTube.

Craig Gould tells us how the drink-filled Friday night turned out with, ‘Burned’

Picking himself off the floor during a wild night after work that turned rather outlandish, Craig Gould returns with the 3rd and final single from his upcoming release called ‘Songs from the Campfire‘, with the inventive swig-loaded single, ‘Burned‘.

Craig Gould is a UK-based indie Americana/folk/alt-country artist and mental health campaigner who is a visionary soul that makes music to relate with at the local.

All of the profits from this release will be donated to CALM – Campaign Against Living Miserably, a charity that Craig is very proud to be working in partnership with. Craig has already used his music to raise over £500 for mental health care within the UK.” ~ Craig Gould

Reminding us that music should be fun and exciting – while filled with stories to make our minds wander – far away from any work or life issues, Craig Gould is at his peak with a glass-tapping performance to get the party started.

Showcasing Gould’s now renowned storytelling gift, drawing us into the two-sided tale of a Friday night’s drinking session.” ~ Craig Gould

Burned‘ from Craig Gould is an ale-soaked bar mat gem that has dancing shoes slipping and laughing-the-night-away with a stumble added in for good measure. This is a drinking anthem that is packed with fantastic stories that so many can connect to, as we are let into a narrative that so many will enjoy and smile with. Featuring his signature charm, gritty vocals and supremely amusing lyrics, this is a single to play loud, when you are having a few cold ones with mates after a long week after work.

Surrender to Javier Jara’s Latin American Folk Serenade, Ranchera Falaz

Ecuador native, Javier Jara, put his music degree in classical guitar performance to jaw-dropping use in his standout Latin American folk single, Ranchera Falaz.

The rich and sonorous serenade carries enough euphonic beguile to almost resonate as haunting, but it’s never all too long before the next progressive shift dips you into a new emotional connection with the acoustic single. The intuitively picked guitar notes and emotionally eloquent Latin folk vocals resound powerfully enough to rival a 100-piece orchestra.

Currently, Javier is a member of the Latin Artist Access Program at the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center (MACC) in Austin, TX. Javier was recently selected as a finalist in Kerrville Folk Festival’s New Folk Competition.

Max Minardi took us to Northern California with his folk-pop single, Young & Green

North California’s folk singer-songwriter, Max Minardi, wore his heart on his sleeve and gave us all his shirt in his latest narratively spellbinding indie folk-pop single, Young & Green.

The Lumineers and Mumford and Sons may have given folk-pop a bad rep, but the pop hooks and Americana roots in Young & Green is more than enough to restore the reputation with a single sonic hand.

The intricately spirited piano melodies and the orchestral layers bring the instrumental gravitas to the same level as his naturally magnetic vocals, which carry the same timeless beguile as Cat Stevens, Paul Simon, and Ben Howard, while up against the effortlessly synergistic female vocals.

Young & Green is now available to stream on Spotify.

Alberta-based folk artist Tyson Ray Borsboom shows us his mindset that is ‘Scared to Love’

Scared to Love by Tyson Ray Borsboom

After the intrinsic empathy contained in the incredibly real single. ‘I Don’t Mind‘, from 2020 that made us stop in our tracks, Tyson Ray Borsboom returns with another emotional single to hold really close on his latest release, ‘Scared to Love‘.

Tyson Ray Borsboom is a Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada-based indie-folk singer-songwriter who makes the type of music that will get you feeling rather contemplative about your previous romantic memories.

With his uniquely honest vocal ability that is mellow in tune and mighty in emotion, Tyson Ray Borsboom shows us his understated brilliance with a single to force you to gaze outside and take time to reflect on your next kiss.

Scared to Love‘ from Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada-based indie-folk singer-songwriter Tyson Ray Borsboom is one of those sad songs that might cause you to pretend you have something stuck in your eye. The tears will probably flow here as we are taken calmly into a story that so many will nod their head at, as we are placed into a moment that is rather real right now.

As we start to realize that so many lost souls are wondering where their next romance is hidden, this is a reminder that those scars do actually take time to heal.

London’s Savannah Gardener obliterated the boundary between country and soul in ‘City of Cowboys’.

https://soundcloud.com/savannah-gardner-music/city-of-cowboys-2/s-ar9HC1kMc9r?utm_source=clipboard&utm_medium=text&utm_campaign=social_sharing

Her sound may scream Nashville, but Savannah Gardener’s roots are implanted in London’s landscape; she’s captivated audiences across the breadth of it, and she’s set to swoon plenty more with her latest single, City of Cowboys.

How many songwriters have perpetuated the myth that making one single entity your ENTIRE world is romantic? Millions? All it took was one soulfully demure single from Savannah Gardener to dispel it. Her emboldening approach to lyricism on the subjects of heartbreak, adversity and triumph carries an intuitive resonance that makes her soundscapes captivating from the first breath.

The twang of the bluegrassy resonator guitars, the accordance of the gentle chords and her anachronistically sweet vocals pull together to deliver the ultimate urban county redemption story that you’ll want to aurally turn the pages of time after time.

māsa are absolutely spellbinding on the raft-floating track you need to hear called ‘My Love Went to Sea’

With their debut album ‘Sailors and Insomniacs‘ set for a 1st of July release that will voyage into the Deep Sea Psyche, māsa look for those must-have directions to find that abandoned soul who needs to be saved on the exquisite, ‘My Love Went to Sea‘.

māsa (formerly known as Currer Bell), is a UK-based siblings-created indie alt-folk duo that was beautifully created by Faron and Merle who have recently started a fresh journey with a new name that shows their ever-increasing growth.

This song is about that feeling of desperately wanting to connect but failing. Sometimes people we love seem unreachable; they’ve gone to a deeper, darker place where we cannot touch them. It can feel hopeless, like trying to talk with someone on the ocean bed when you’re sailing on the surface. But you keep trying anyway, hoping that one day, you’ll pull them up from the depths.” – māsa

Showing us something rare that is so pure in nature and calmly performed, māsa leads us inside the vast ocean with their brave raft that will surely find that temporarily unsighted soul who needs to be found, before they are deemed lost forever.

And now, the horizon looks different. We are sailing for unknown lands, and we cannot bring our crinolines and inkpots with us everywhere. The only thing we know we will be bringing is each other. Sisters.” ~ māsa

My Love Went to Sea‘ from the soulfully graceful UK-based indie alt-folk family duo māsa, is one of the most enchanting experiences you are likely to witness all year. Their captivatingly radiant vocal ability combined together is something that can only be explained if you listen to these two incredible young artists on full volume, as we are swept into a whole new universe that has so much hope. This is a magnificent single made with love – as trying no matter what the odds –  is the most courageous thing possible to humankind.

Dominik Büchele is a German indie-folk/pop singer-songwriter who after being in a band before, is now fully emerged in the solo journey realm.

Growing up in the black forest area, Germany, the great outdoors has always been an important inspiration and has as much an influence on him as travel.” ~ Dominik Büchele

Opening the stuffy door that has been locked for too long, Dominik Büchele urges us to venture outside again and sings with rare freedom that is a guiding light to those anxious souls who need some guidance to open their minds to what is possible.

Away We Go‘ from German indie-folk singer-songwriter Dominik Büchele shows us a truly excellent artist who has decided that it’s time to escape this butchery-filled world that is packed with distrust and misery.
