I’ll never be the biggest Billie Eilish fan, but what I will always appreciate about her is that she has inspired countless female artists to throw away the plasticised facades which have been masking the true expression in the Pop genre. Yes, there were poised and polished ballads prior to her ascension to the top of the charts. Yet, what there has always been a distinct lack of is raw, candid lyricism, in an understated, yet atmospheric soundscape. Such as what you will find in the resonant single “i don’t miss u” from the up and coming songwriter, artist and producer Caro.
Even though i don’t miss you isn’t necessarily a lo-fi track, it still retains the same intimacy in the absence of excessive effects and polishing. The natural magnetism of Caro’s vocals sits perfectly above the melancholy in the moody Indie Pop soundscape which is more than deserving of three minutes of your time.
