With a title like “I’m Fake as Fuck”, the last thing you come to expect is a melodic, downtempo ambient Hip Hop mix. Yet, it would seem that the up and coming Rap artist Bubba Ken is full of aurally immersive surprises. With his verses which flow as seamlessly as spoken word poetry, his style packs in all of the appeal of artists such as George the Poet. Hip Hop fans expect to hear amplified levels of aggression from Rap artists, yet, the sentiment hits home even harder through soft and sonorous verses. I can’t help but be left enamoured by the San Francisco-based artist’s prodigally ingenious and infinitely appealing approach to the genre. And I have no doubt that I won’t be the only one.
