Where I even start when it comes to brody.’s single Cancelled which was released on August 4th, 2018 I have no idea. brody. Proved that he was a triple threat to the experimental indie scene with his poetically poignant lyrics, his lofty yet captivating vocals and his subtly compelling beat with Cancelled.
The instrumentals behind the track infused ambient Indie with Hip Hop, whilst there have been many Hip Hop Indie cross overs as of late I’m pretty sure that no artist has approached the genre mash with such deft command over a fret board. The swampy yet up-vibe guitar progressions were transiently lucid and wrapped perfectly around the digital effects of Cancelled.
After checking out the standout single I needed no encouragement to listen to the rest of the emerging artist’s 7-track album ‘Jellyfish Stings & Sunburns’ each track on the album was as lucidly cathartic as the last. The poetry which has been written into the lyricism of each track didn’t fail to leave me captivated. His playful ingenious approach to lyricism is something that I won’t forget in a hurry.
